B-1B Bombers Grounded

Post by TomTwin » Fri Jun 08, 2018 7:36 am

Good morning all,

Unfortunately, I have just been informed by the MOD Police going round the base that the bombers are all grounded at present. It would appear the issue with the one from Ellesworth is enough to stop them flying.

Long drive back to Wrexham now for me, so thought I would pop this up to avoid people having the same feeling of huge disappointment as me.

Cheers,

Tom

This looks like it could be a fleet wide grounding for checks following 86-0109DY's 21 May OWF/engine fire , back seater failed ejection , emergency landing at Midland Airport ,Tx see Air Force amn/nco/snco . Presume just bad timing for the Elsworth bird that dropped in . My supposition .

Well that would make more sense than the fleet being grounded because of one landing at Fairford with a technical problem.
But a shame the grounding should happen now while they're at Fairford :'(

Let's hope they are back up and running soon! Going to chance it down there nonetheless - ground shots and Brize! :thumb:

If you go, I really hope they fly for you all, not a nice feeling this sense of huge disapppintment. Wouldn't wish it on anyone!!

Hoping for a chance to go back before they head off home, but doesn't look likely. Just my luck! :grr:

Cheers,

Tom

If it’s just a case of checking each seat fitted then they should be up flying again soon, if a mod has to be made or a fault is found then yes they will be here for RIAT.
