Shame sensitive info can't be kept off forums and some people can't work out what is safe to post and what is not
Cheers

Out of curiosity, is it not breach of the Official Secrets Act to publicly release any form of information regardless of severity or whether it's protectively marked? - What is "safe" to post for a member of the armed forces?

By saying its sensitive information. Otherwise as you say, it would just have been military aircraft landing at a military airfield.

I think its a throwback to the 70's when reporting the movements or photographing of any Israeli aircraft was discouraged.

I can see nothing sensitive about the info I posted as it was already all over the airwaves / internet. The fact is they had been picked up on R/T over Canada getting their clearance onto the Ocean with their destination being given as Brize - and this info had been posted on various egroups by others way before I recieved the information and made my post.
The fact that they were coming - not sensitive - that information was already all over the airwaves / internet. Now had I posted the following
departure airfield , onward destination after Brize, cargo / pax details, crew details, what the crew had for breakfast, what underwear they were wearing - now that would be sensitive info.
If you want to be really picky you could say that all movement of military / government aircraft is sensitive and therefore no information whatsoever should be posted.
I'm more than happy to save time and effort and keep information to myself (like some do) but I believe in sharing information (I'm not in the military / government so not bound by anything). Afterall that is what the egroups and forums are for. Otherwise what's the point!!!

I think there is only one post in this thread that gave out 'sensitive' information!

Posting its 'sensitive' info on here and Facebook and then blatting your pictures over the internet, taken on base, under a photo permit which probably does not allow you to snap 'sensative' moves on base smacks of double standards Mr Eccie.

I too appreciate the information.
I didn't get chance to go for them when they arrived but hope they will still be there in the morning when I take a long detour to work from Northampton to Rugby via Brize!
The only thing I would suggest for future times if it would stop people complaining (that's not meant as a dig at anyone, as I know some armed forces like to keep their movements quiet), would be to maybe post in the members only "heads up and ott" section...
In any event, please don't stop posting interesting movements somewhere on this site
Best regards, Steve
