Puma's On the Move

Post by EGNV » Wed Aug 03, 2022 7:26 pm

I've heard from a reliable source 3 x Puma's will be sent to Brunei and 3 to Cyprus in the coming weeks.

I think this will leave around 7 in the UK, although I'm happy to be told it's more!

These will become rare machines in the UK.

Should be some going to Brunei, although I don't know when.

It will be even quieter than usual around these parts.

This will leave 17 at Benson out of the original Mark 2 fleet of 24, of which one had been written off. There will still be 33 Sqn and 230 Sqn as operational Puma squadrons and 28 Sqn as Puma and Chinook OCU. Hardly " a couple...."

Will the Pumas that relocate to Cyprus be assigned to 84 Sqn or will it just be a detachment from a Benson unit?

Not really, serviceable or unserviceable, they are still at Benson.

But you won’t be able to shoot the U/S ones stuck in PMF. I was speaking in regards to being able to photograph them 👍

ELAS report (via LAAS's Aviation Review & News) that XW212/D and XW214/F were due to be airfreighted to Brunei on 28 Aug.
