Roger
viewing from the western perimeter viewpoint, the 3 Chinooks at the southern dispersal were the Chinooks that had been doing the pleasure flights. As far as I could see, there were only 3 Chinooks visible on the field.
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....
Benson Families Day 19-AUG-21 NOTAMs
Re: Benson Families Day 19-AUG-21 NOTAMs
What time were you there Wobs? D1scafellpike reported above that one of the three Chinooks doing pleasure flights in the morning (ZA680) departed to Odiham at lunchtime. So were there four out on the field during the morning, or did ZA680 come back by 13:30?
Note that there was also an unidentified Chinook in the static area directly in front of "spotters corner" during the afternoon, between the Osprey and the BAe146, as well as the three parked on the southern taxi-way (of which ZH896 took part in the role demo).

Re: Benson Families Day 19-AUG-21 NOTAMs
Hi Roger.
I was only there from about 11:20 till 12:10. I scoped the serials of the Chinooks and also got photos showing the serials so I am confident of my three. Incidentally I logged ZA681 southbound using H7 at 16:12 near Epsom. It had come from the direction of Odiham and travelled up H3 transited, London as far as Lewisham, did an about turn and hooked a left at Barnes.

Re: Benson Families Day 19-AUG-21 NOTAMs
Thanks Wobs.
So regarding Chinooks the consensus appears to be that:
a) the three flying the family "experience" flights 08:30L to about 12:15L were ZA680, ZA714 and ZH896,
b) just after 12:00L, ZA680 departed to Odiham,
c) the three parked throughout the afternoon on the southern taxiway were ZA714, ZH896 and an unknown aircraft
d) ZH896 took off and took part in the role demo (first flying display item just after 2pm)
e) ZA681 came in from Odiham, did the Chinook solo (aerobatic) display and departed back to Odiham (as Vortex/SHF469)
f) a second unknown Chinook was in the static display.
So unless someone read them off and is prepared to share on here, the best we have is Motley's comments above on the possible identities of the two unknowns.

Re: Benson Families Day 19-AUG-21 NOTAMs
It was ZH893 that was the extra one on the taxi way and it was ZA708 that was on static display, i have seen some shared pictures which confirm this
