Australian Seakings in the UK

Post by farnboroughrob » Mon Jun 16, 2014 7:48 pm

Hi seen today on the M25 were two Seakings in a white protective coating, these are part of 5 coming to ASL for parting out. They are LIKELY to be at the Charlwood yard near Gatwick where there have been Sea Harriers and Jags in recent years. I will try and check out the yard tomorrow.

Hi all,
All six were still wrapped as of this morning. All six "white bags" clearly seen from Trend car park in Foundry Lane but also can be seen nicely from the train northbound just as you leave Horshan station on your right. Should anybody notice any bags being removed please post update, thanks.

Apparently these sea kings have now been identified . The australian SK,s were never really in any doubt but the Royal navy model has been id as
XV674.
For the record the australian,s are
N16-114/905
N16-125/910
N16-238/920
N16-239/921
N16-918/922

Hi, not sure if anyone is interested but they appear to still be bagged up as I went past on the train on 23-Feb-16. Coincidentally ended up at Eastleigh Station where the yard there still has Sea Kings, albeit un-bagged.

Update on the Australian Seakings at ASL Horsham. Mar 2016
I recently went by the ASL site in brothers car. As he is not an enthusiast we did not stop.
From the brief glimpse I had I could still see some moth balled shapes outside.
I did not have time to count how many.
Is there any one else in the area that can add more info.

May be of interest to somebody, I just found this posted today on another site...

"Came past the yard in Horsham last Friday, there is an ex Royal Navy
Sea King in Red/Grey visible from outside the gate....has number 30
on the nose....no cover over aircraft.
The other six are all bagged up."

May help somebody. :thumb:

I make that to be XZ578 from Colsterworth, unless anyone knows better.
