JARTS Tonka's and Sea King
JARTS Tonka's and Sea King
Morning All,
Noted arriving to Boscombe by road 2/3 weeks ago were x2 Tornado GR4 fuselage sections only as well as a Grey Sea King.
One tornado looks to be a specially painted one with a black stripe from the cockpit to the tail. The other is all grey.
The seaking arrived a week later and looked to have the numbers "58" painted on the side.
Any help in ID'ing would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

A Tornado F.3 and the GR.4A that were at Manston left by road about the same time before going to St Mawgan. Possibly connected??
Re: JARTS Tonka's and Sea King
The GR4A was the 2 Sqn special with the black spine and fin wasnt it, so sounds likelyVulcanone wrote:A Tornado F.3 and the GR.4A that were at Manston left by road about the same time before going to St Mawgan. Possibly connected??

Although I think 2 Sqn liberated 100 years fin off 398 not long after it was forced into Manston by the birdstrike. I saw pics of recently with a plain grey tail.

Hi Vulcanone,
Ref the Sea King - this may possibly be one from the German Navy - for some reason brought back to the U.K.? --Paul

Hi Vulcanone,
Is the Sea King this one perhaps?

A really nice helicopter - I used to see this Mk when they were based at Culdrose in around 1977 (they used to fly over Penryn where I used to live at that time!)
I seem to remember that after the Falklands War a lot of them were sold to the German Navy! --Paul

I'm afraid I don't know which the Sea King is. I saw a post on Facebook regarding the Tornados leaving Manston. So assume they (may) have stopped at Boscombe Down as JARTS are based there now I believe
