Old Sarum Airfield.

Not directly Boscombe Down, bit there was a huge fire in Hangar 3, next to the BDAC. No reports of the museum being affected, but it may affect its ability to open over the weekend.

They've sent out a newsletter email :

"On 17 April 2025 there was a large fire at Old Sarum Airfield.

The fire was at the other end of the airfield from BDAC and is not affecting our operation.

Sadly, The Hangar 3 Cafe has been destroyed.

The Collection will be open today and this weekend (including Monday as a Public Holiday)."

Good news and thanks for the update. It's been a while since I've been there and thought it was the hangar next to the museum.

Only good that the museum is ok. Bad news that a listed World War One hangar has been destroyed and a part of aviation history lost at one of our oldest surviving airfields.
