Another quiet day

Post by Old 62 » Fri Feb 02, 2024 11:22 am

Arrived at midday. One apache low across porton down. The usual tutors and squirrel in the circuit. Only things of note were what looked like a yellow tutor parked northside and an airbus Hele copters mbb177 reg. G-rngs flying southside. Have not seen that before. Nothing else stirring so left at 2.30pm.

Is anything interesting actually based at BD anymore?

Any of you guys spend time after dark?

Obviously its history is the Area 51 of the UK, but is that now just a long gone Tin Foil Hat Wearing rumour?

How long until its a housing estate?

Just as an addendum, obviously due to its close proximity to Porton Down, the housing estate is probably not gonna happen (but if it is no doubt the new residents will be advised not to grow their own veggies..)

A story about beefing security up at one entrance for Boscombe Down was on a news Channel the other day. Alas I spotted it while using the phone so can't remember which one...

You're reading much too much into this! The current main gate and visitor parking areas are woefully lacking and interfere with local traffic. QinetiQ have applied for planning permission to move it further along Stockport Road. There will be a new security/reception building and control of access. The fence has needed upgrading for some time, It will still be quiet!
