Tue 01 Apr 2014
Busy day so far today, once the fog cleared - presumably what caused this years B52 deployment into Yeovil to be cancelled  . So far we've had.

WHE02 up in ZZ381 Wildcat AH1
WHE04 up in ZZ382 Wildcat AH1
WHE01 up in ZR352 Merlin HH101

WHE01 up again in ZJ994 Merln HC3
SHF427 over the top in ZH777 Chinook

Malcolm, that wouldn't be ZZ382 would it by any chance? ZZ392 has been noted quite a lot recently with the army down the road - has it come home?

Interesting. Late this afternoon, WHE01 was showing on PP as Merlin ZH857. Pilots been busy today.

Merlinhunter - I agree with you. Hex [43C6E6] was airborne today - which would be ZZ382 if it follows the sequence. I believe that ZZ392 is usually up from Yeovilton with a "SPEARxx" callsign.
Cheers, Bob

15:10L Just had an all white Merlin go past the window. Showing on PP as [9749C0] "WHE07" , which I think makes it Algerian?

Not sure about a primer Merlin. There was a white one leaving yesterday afternoon, climbing steeply to the east. Think it was Saudi 2 HMH-2 as it was in the flight shed last Thusday.

Out on a glouriously sunny, if a bit chilly, main ramp this morning were

ZH835 Merlin HM1/2 Behind the mound - Wooohooo need that one
ZH839 Merlin HM1/2 Behind the mound - no rotor blades
ZZ3(9)8 Wildcat AH1 "Army" - couldn't read the middle digit but WHE02 currently showing as [43C6BB] which should be ZZ398.

Cheers

A Sea King with the c/s SRG126 came into VL from AGWHL later today, sadly I was elsewhere at the time, however later this afternoon ZH542 was noted shutting down with AMG groundcrew in attendance.

Yes saw that.

14:20L [601862] "WHE01" has just gone past the window inbound in an all white Merlin with a green tail. Algerian I think?

No, not Algerian - the hex code is from Turkmenistan. Therefore, it should be the Turkmenistan Government EZ-S714 which arrived 11 February 2014.
