Wildcat ZZ550 was out at 08:45 this morning. I was at home all afternoon. A Norwegian Merlin took off at about 3pm. However, I read it off from the bedroom window as ZZ105.

It's true "ZZ106" was pinging on SBS a bit later, but the altitude was showing as a constant 2800 feet, and no squawk. That normally indicates in-hangar testing.

Earlier this week there was a Merlin out on the ramp - mostly painted but with a primer panel across the top of the cockpit/engine cover area. The one I saw flying today saw fully painted.

Thursday 22nd November 2018 1302hrs local
0275 Merlin 612 towed from spray rig to flight shed.

Good guess this time Judwin!

As yet this has no rotors fitted ( otherwise it wouldn’t fit in the rig ;) ) and for id purposes the roof panel aft of the cockpit, forward of the rotor shaft is still in primer. I imagine ZZ106 won’t be applied until the Norwegian serial is covered.

This supports what you're saying Malcolm.

Thanks for the info Malcolm. Another case of me adding 2+2 and getting 5.
Another clue should have been WHE02, first flights are normally flown by the CTP ie WHE01.

That just means someone has put ZZ106 in their own personal database of ADSB codes, and then "shared" the ADSB info with a network. If I put ZZ107 in my database, then that's what will show on your screen. Whilst I've little doubt [43C7E1] is indeed ZZ106, until someone actually reads it off in flight there is still a small chance it isn't.

Flying along the south coast at 10.45 today, overhead Hastings and heading east, was what looked like a Norwegian AW101 - according to my plane plotter app it was calling WHE6. Presumably the example referred to as ZZ106 but can anyone confirm?

There was a Norwegian AW101 on the ramp at 08:45 tail on, but I couldn't get an angle to read it off. It still had the Norwegian serial covered, and the UK serial applied though. That, and the fact it appears to have departed on a Westland callsign makes me think it'll be back, and isn't on delivery.

According to Scramble (obtained from MSF), ZZ106 was going to Poland for a demonstration visit to the Polish Armed Forces.

It called in at Ostend en route.
