A RN Merlin coded 'AC' was the only thing outside at 1330. Could someone please confirm this was ZJ994? Many thanks.
I really should look at the previous posts even if it is late at night & I've been out all day! ZJ994 it was then.

ZZ513 did have an orange probe under the nose last year. I don't remember if it's still got it though. ZZ513 usually flies with it's modeS transponder turned off (or it's removed/busted) so it can be difficult to 'see' on radar. All the others usually fly with the transponder turned on.

I don't remember any other Wildcats with probes - although if it's a new fitment it could be any of the based ones.

It's been hovering above the airfield since just after 6pm. Was doing what looked like high winching trials. Only turned the transponder on when it went for a wander around the local area.

4th October 2021

16:40L [43C47E] currently pinging on the deck (perhaps in the hangar). This has been re-used several times for Italian Merlins. Wonder what it'll be this time.

Out on another cloudy, overcast and quite chilly ramp this morning were

ZZ413 Wildcat HM2 "Royal Navy"
ZZ102 Merlin for Norway
(0286/ZR286) Merlin for Poland in wash rack.

ZZ102 is now quite faded in the orange panels over the rear fuselage.

I couldn't read the Polish off - It's got the polish serial on the rear fuselage, and the tops of all the numbers were rounded, so not (0285). More interestingly its in a two/three tone grey splinter camo.

Cheers
Malcolm
