F3-tastic 30 mins! 8-3-11

There was a fantastic period of 30 minutes today at Lyneham between 2.30 and 3.00

After a period of nothing happening since 1.30, Hercules 882 returned from Brize and started doing circuits.
Next thing a GR4 went high overhead - heading North East...
Then suddenly an F3 appeared on finals and did an overshoot. This was QinetiQ Tornado F3 ZD902.
882 was still doing circuits when the F3 reappeared at medium height for a circling pass.

Then QinetiQ Alfajet ZJ649 appeared and did 3 overshoots while the F3 did 2 more overshoots.
A manic 30 minutes

Nice catch on ZD902. Not a Tornado F.3, but an F.2.

Of course... though i was a bit closer than i would have liked, and didn't have the nerve to race to another position (as i didn't know how many overshoots he was going to do). I'll put a couple of photos in the Current Military Aviation section
