Yes the 555th are deployed and they have 'borrowed' some of the 510th aircraft. But they also have 510th flight crew participating too. As these patches were obtained from a 510th pilot.
You are correct, the statement comes from a popular T-shirt and poster from the 1970s that featured two hungry looking buzzards sitting in a tree. Which is why the 510th have adopted it as they are called the Buzzards. But the design has been used by many different units over the years. I am not into patches so have no idea if this has been used many times by many units
