Do any of you display your patches, if so how and where? (Albums, frames, etc?)

I have some on display at the Bentwaters Cold War Museum and at home i have some framed in my hallway. The ones i don't have on display i started to put into albums but they were taking up to much space so i now keep them in box files.

Well, that depends on the quantity of patches and available space I'd say....

When I initially started out collecting in the mid 1970s, I put them all in frames and put the frames up on the walls... soon I was running out of available wall space... then I used double-sided "carpet-tape" to affix the patches on boards... however the drawback to that idea was it's next to impossible to rearrange any patches later on. Third (and again not the best) idea was to use a hot glue gun and glue the patches on smaller index sized cards and sort them in nummerical order. That worked for a number of years... however it can be difficult to remove the hot glue residue from the back of the patches.

Nowadays, I have only one picture frame with patches displayed, and a few categories in binders useing photo pages which it most patches. Those binders are stored in locakble metal file cabinets. The rest is still glued to index cards.

Whatever you decide, it's an investment to begin with and you ought to try and keep it up for x-number of years. But in the end it all depends on how YOU would like to do it and what suits YOU best.

If you do get your patches frames ensure you leave a small gap between the patch and the glass. Had a few of mine professionally framed a couple of years ago and was warned by the framer that any cloth in a frame (ie football shirt, patch etc) should have air between it and the glass - there could be a build up of condensation which, over time, will fade the colour and slowly make the cloth deteriorate

Like Dan, I use clear plastic cd sleeves sealed with staples. They can then be handled and viewed both sides, ideal for displaying on ebay etc..
