Some nice stuff here - anybody out there who may be interested in either one or both of those shown? Anybody collecting subdued USAF patches (have tons of them and no longer need them).

That unit no longer exists - 1st Squadron, German Naval Air Wing 3,NAS Nordholz, Germany.

that was done for our NATO AWACS crews who deployed to Cape Verde for the exercise.

I also have some patches on ebay, but if there is enough interest here I may upload a some traders/sellers here as well.

Thanks for looking

Obviously from the 1st Gulf War era (just before if 1990) but that is all I know...

Slarti :)
Hi i thinks its for the tanker task force which operated in the gulf area out of Jeddah in the build up to the first gulf war. It was only given to crew members involved at the time as this was obviously a delicate issue. Hope this helps. Its a very nice patch quite rare also. Regards Matt

The bottom one is the old 22 TFS patch from the F-15 era at the 36 TFW Bitburg AB, Germany. I have no clue what the top one is - never seen it before.

Second one should be the 22nd Fighter Squadron which is now 480 FS from Spangdahlem AB http://www.spangdahlem.af.mil/library/f ... sp?id=7912" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Could the first be the Redskins the Dutch apache squadron?

The 22FS is a completely different unit from the 480FS which returned to Spang last year and reformed on the F16.

The USAF history is a bit vague - the 22FS actually handed back their Eagles and simply picked up the 480FS aircraft when they initially disbanded in 1994 so it was really just a number plate change.

The lower of the two patches is definitely the 22nd TFS. See here...http://www.usafpatches.com/gallery/thum ... 19&page=24" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And there's plenty more where that came from!

There are some lovely patches on this thread. I stopped collecting a few years ago - the wife said I was addicted!
Here are a few that are handy (I have hundreds stashed away in folders).
