Patch Presentation

Post by herc15 » Mon Jun 22, 2020 9:44 pm

Evening all,

Recently I have been looking at ways to present my (very modest  ) patch collection and most prefer the idea of having some kind of patch wall or surface to use.

The one large handbrake in this scheme is buying a sheet of loop that big enough as I can only seem to find small sheets.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I have my collection displayed on one of these, https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07 ... =UTF8&th=1

I went for the smaller version and it could probably hold about 50 patches

Have you thought about felt - relatively cheap for a large amount and the patches attach no problems

Box frame - I glued felt to the backing and then attached the patches via the velcro

Alternatively get a large frame, remove the glass and glue the felt to the backing, reframe and hang on the wall - you can then change your patches displayed as and when required

Cheers

I will second the method Darren has used, you can see the frames i did on the link below

The felt holds the Velcro just the right amount so that you do not have to fight with it when you want to change / move them about.

Exactly Ashley - with the second option I got a large frame, took the glass out and spread PVA glue over the glass thinly, covered with stretched black felt and allowed to dry, reframed it and I can change the patches at any time

Apologies - photo from an I Phone but gives you an idea. Got the felt from the local fabric shop and it was about £10 for a mile of the stuff

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I had considered felt, though I wasnt sure how well it would hold the patches.

I think that's what I will use, seems cost effective and simple.

Appreciate your help, I may post a photo if I ever get around to doing it!
