In Praise of the Harrier
Re: In Praise of the Harrier
Very interesting, I joined Brigade Air Support (RAF) in 1967 aged 23 and worked with the kestrel and Harrier Providing close air support training. They quite often used us as targets and it was quite exhilarating to be dived on by a fast jet. Would not have liked to be the enemy. In those days the pilot carried maps and I recall a German pilot waiting at the gate for a target and reporting that he had left his map behind. Most times it was the Stanford PTA. Thanks for putting that item on the site, brought back some long lost memories.
