I remember once many years ago being held up sitting in traffic on base at the 23 runway end at RAF Lossie. Finally there was a great roar and and a pair of F-15s that were departing on 05 about 5 seconds apart, crossed the fence and went vertical over the golf course and just kept going until they were making vapour trails. All the more spectacular because it was the winter time and the light was beginning to fade. Watching the glow of the afterburners disappear skywards and just keep going. I found out afterwards the traffic was held up whilst Lossie ATC negotiated with Scottish a climb above FL245.

Wow...Brilliant Steve. Thanks for sharing. I have only seen this done a couple of times in all my visits to the Heath :)

I have heard that the pilot is supposed to get permission to do that (not sure how true it is though) :S

What a fantastic bit of kit

Cheers
