A few highlights for me were the withdrawal of the 1CAB via Gilze-Rijen and the activities around the WIC and the farewell of the F-16 at Leeuwarden. 2021 was mainly a year of farewell within the Royal Netherlands Air Force, for example, we said goodbye to the F-16 at Leeuwarden, goodbye to the KDC-10 at Eindhoven and goodbye to the Delta Chinook at Gilze-Rijen. The RNLAF is in a process of change towards a future-proof company. Several F-35s have been delivered and the MMU at Eindhoven took a few new Airbus A330s into service. Several CH-47F Chinooks have also been delivered to Gilze-Rijen as a replacement for the Delta Chinook.
A lot happened on the local airfields and that resulted in some fun and varied films. 2021 was therefore a good aviation year for me, despite the limitations. On to 2022 and let everyone enjoy looking back at the highlights of last year. Don't forget to turn up the volume, because that's the advantage of filming!
