I will be taking the family down to Devon next week and of course it just so happens to be Dawlish show on the Friday.
Could anyone give advice on photography locations/parking, in particular the 'hillside' which I understand many shots are taken from which overlooks the bay.
Have never been before and not familiar with the area. As it looks a great location any help and advice much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Matt

Re: Dawlish Airshow Photography Advice
Hi Matt
The hill is behind the Smuggers Inn, just outside of Dawlish.

The hill does not come under our (the show organisers) jurisdiction, and isn't formally part of the display line, but is certainly a popular spot for snappers!
All we ask is that anyone who does venture up there remembers that the show receives no funding and relies almost entirely on support from visitors to the event by way of donations and programme sales.
Cheers
Gareth

Re: Dawlish Airshow Photography Advice
Many thanks for the replies, really useful.
I certainly have no objection in making a donation and would like to support the event. The opportunites this may present for photography appear to be quite unique in the UK so any support that can be given to the event is well worth it in my view. I'll look out for the donation buckets/programmes around the Smugglers.
Not being familiar with the area is parking permitted at the Smugglers or is it roadside parking nearby?
Lets hope for some good weather and a successful show for all.
Cheers

Hi,
It is normally chaos around the locality, going from previous years. May be worth considering parking outside the town in the designated car parks / park and ride. Lot of local people outside the area catch the train in. Hope the weather is better than last year.
Important, I see no park and ride this year

No park and ride, sadly, but more trains, and longer trains!
