Biggin Hill this year

Post by Sparts99 » Wed Feb 15, 2012 2:16 pm

Is there an airshow this year at Biggin ? BBMF Lancaster is booked for a display on Saturday 15th September according to BBMF website but I'm not aware of a show this year.

Biggin Hill doesn't have much of an airshow anymore. They cancelled the traditional show and, as I understand it, have an open house day in September with a few flypasts.

The Lancaster is only due for flypast and is based at Biggin Hill to support Goodwood Revival. As far as I'm aware no public event is planned for Biggin Hill this year by the airport.

Ok thanks, I'd misread the XL sheet. Shame there's no show though, anyone know why they've stopped ?.

There's no show this year due to the Olympics and Biggin's aims to be an 'Olympic Airport' for all the extra private jet traffic during the summer.

However, there is new managment and they've indicated a will to stage a significant aviation event sometime in the future, maybe as soon as 2013.

The Open Day last September wasn't a bad event by any means as there were some good flying displays (particularly the Sea Fury), though it was slightly overpriced and suffered from very poor advertising resulting in very poor attendance.

Yes, I live about 15 miles away and knew nothing about it. The Air Fair used to be very heavily publicised locally.
