youve put this in the wrong section of the forum mate, try "airshows" instead of airshow photography :Oops:

I'm afraid I've got to give it a miss this year. SWMBO has decided that for my 50th birthday treat we're having a family trip to Londond to visit her sister !!!

To nwmonitor.....On the subject of trains , I go over to Chester (10 miles ) and get a "Mersey rail" to Southport for £4.95 !! it takes an hour and a half and there's a change in Liverpool, but to me it all adds to the days entertainment !! (Incedentally it's £14.70 from Manchester !) Which , if you take in to concideration the congestion , fuel, and parking charges in Southport , it still works out cheaper to "Let the train take the strain" (If you're going on your own that is!)

Just out of intrest how do they charge people at southport do they charge you to go on the seafront or is there a special area which you can pay to watch. Was just wondering as its against the law to charge people to go into a public beach or seafornt Thats why at lowestoft we have to rely on voluntary donations which is hard to say the least. If we sealed off the seafront there would be outrage even if we were to charge just 3 quid but if we done that with the 450,000 people that visit lowestoft over the 2 days we would have one hell of an airshow the next year. Cheers for any help.

Around three miles of the seafront is fenced off and there are gates at various points along the way.

Wow how do they get away with that one :grr: Public beach sealed off very naughty but obviously they can somehow get away with it. Not that im disputing paying as its worth paying to see a good show but its just amazing how they do this i will have to look into it for lowestoft in the future but i cant see it happening as everyone would kick up a stink and say why should we pay to go on our own seafront.

I don't know for certain, but I think Sefton Council "Own" Southport seafront , as do (I would assume) Suffolk County Council where Lowestoft are concerned, and as such can do what they want to and can allow or refuse access to whom so ever they wish to. Try giving them a gentle nudge via this link ... http://www.suffolk.gov.uk/CouncilAndDem ... ffices.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You never know !!
