Leuchars Air Show 2011
Leuchars Air Show 2011
I know the base has a lot bigger and more important problems like its survival.
Has anyone heard if the show is going ahead? I know they've got couple of months longer to go than most air shows. But seems ominously quiet on the air show front.... Apart from both the below have listed Leuchars as display dates
RAF Hawk
Belgian F-16

Re: Leuchars Air Show 2011
As you say Gary I reckon with all that's going on I would guess they're (like the rest of us) trying to work out exactly is going to happen. It would be a travesty if the Base is closed and the Airshow lost forever.

Re: Leuchars Air Show 2011
Tickets available from today
RAF Leuchars Airshow Ticket Launch 2011.
“Defending the Skies: Past, Present and Future”
Today (2 June 2011) RAF Leuchars launches the tickets for its Annual Airshow which takes place on Saturday 10 September 2011.
The Airshow provides an opportunity for RAF Leuchars to celebrate the RAF at its best, showcasing its wide-range of roles and capabilities and highlighting its rich heritage and that of military aviation in North East Fife. Through the show, RAF Leuchars is able to welcome its neighbours throughout Scotland (and beyond) on to the base and to thank them for their support throughout the year.
The RAF Leuchars Airshow is Scotland’s second largest non-sporting outdoor event offering the public a spectacular flying display which this year includes the Patrouille de France and the Red Arrows, complemented by an array of ground attractions including the Exhibition Hangar, a Craft Fair, Funfair, Simulators, Trade Village and an arena featuring a range of exciting acts.
The Airshow Director, Wing Commander Patrick O’Donnell reflected:
“It is a privilege for RAF Leuchars to host the only remaining Battle of Britain Airshow, opening the doors of the base to the public for the 63rd time in 65 years. To that end, the Airshow’s theme, ‘Defending the Skies: Past, Present and Future’ will be celebrated in a number of ways: The ‘Past’ reflects on 100 years of Military Aviation in North East Fife from the humble beginning of ballooning in 1911 to the ‘Present’, the modern day Typhoon whose roles include Quick Reaction Alert, Counter Terrorism and Air Policing and looking to the ‘Future’ as Typhoon provides control of the air and support to UK Foreign Policy wherever British Interests may lie.”
Advance Saver tickets & Parking on the Base (only available if booked in advance) available at www.airshow.co.uk.
With thanks to the Leuchars FB page
