I hope to attend this and as it will be my first visit, any tips on where the best shots are to be had? Is it really worth the money they charge to sit on the pier?

I don't think you get the chance to go on the pier with normal payed for tickets, the only thing you pay for is to park on the beach.

If your on the pier you can get some good shots, although from around 3pm your essentially shooting into the sun.

The best shots are to be had near to the front of the beach close to the light aircraft & microlights

Here's my shots from last year on the Saturday from close to the light aircraft click me

I go on the train, (It works out cheaper than driving and then paying to park) and I then walk through to the back of the cinema about 200 yards down from the pier, it's round about 'crowd centre' and you get some good shots here (If the whether plays ball)

I nearly forgot, it's 7 pounds to get in any where now, if you pay in advance, I think it's a pound more on the day. (It's about 60 quid to go on the pier but I think you do get lunch with that, I also think it's sold out)

Thanks for all the replies. I did think the sixty odd quid for the pier was a tad expensive. Will also do the last leg by train to avoid the traffic.

I come up from Chester via 'Mersey rail' and it's £7.95 return. Which means you miss the traffic, avoid paying the 6 quid parking fee and save on a tenners worth of diesel too!............No brainer really.
Also you can review your photos on the way home and see what's 'in' at RAF Woodvale as my train passes it on the way there. (I saw the Blades and the Breightling Wing Walkers 3 Stearman on the ground in there a couple of years back)

By the way, if you're getting your train tickets in advance don't use the Trainline as they charge a fee now. I use Travel supermarket or Red Spotted Hanky

Just had a proper look on their site, tickets are £7.32 in advance, £9.00 on the gate, the 'premier tickets' are £62.70.

The 'Reds' are on at 14.00 hrs Saturday and 12.00 hrs Sunday

I'm driving up from Bedfordshire. Must be mad but last chance to see Thumper and Vera strut their stuff. Probably take the train from Parbold.

Cheers but it has to be Sunday for me. On reflection it's not that long a journey. Only 186 miles as against the 306 miles to St. Mawgan and I did that show there and back in a day. :)

There's a rumor that the BBMF & Canadian Lancaster will be operating from Blackpool for the Weekend

It could be, as It doesn't seem to have any other duties now.
