Yes indeed a rare sight in the UK that's what makes it all the more disappointing, to blame ATC who really knows. It's just a shame that they would have known where it was going and why, if they knew there was a hold up in the area be it close to the airport or in between why clear it for take off? For a first at Midlands airshow for me it was a lovely day out, I'm not one to moan about prices because it's the same everywhere and if you don't want to pay it, take food with you. All in all it was good to see the Draken just the commentary should have been more informative, to sugar coat what was a dismal showing was poor on there part, i remember one year at RIAT the Raptor went tech during the display and they said exactly that over commentary. People would have been less disappointed if they had of explained the reasoning. Safety first and all that. Super excited to see a rare fast jet operated in privately owned hands over land for the first time since shoreham. Hopefully a sign of things to come over the next few years. So well done Midlands for getting a first in many years. I know they've wanted to display at RIAT for some years now so maybe in the near future the CAA will allow it.

What makes you think it was ATC fault? Perhaps the pilot had planned a route smashing through the middle of controlled airspace, which was obviously never going to happen?

It wasn't the first since Shoreham, the Draken displayed at Sunderland and Bournemouth in 2019 and the Viggen and Tunnan displayed at Southport that same year. You may be referring to the first overland display by the SwAFHF since Shoreham.

In response to both of you that's exactly what i said. To blame ATC know one really knows. And yes first overland display... as i put. Either way what with the CAA being so strict you would have thought the Draken would have been here earlier to pre plan everything as the Belgians did last year before their show at Cosford on arrival they flew over the top of Cosford to check out the display area i believe the french did as well when they brought the Rafale. It seemed really strange that the swedish arrived the day of display with no checks, nothing. Hence the issue with Norwich airport. Seemed like poor planning on everyones part. Further more I'm sure Midlands sold a lot of tickets based on the Drakens appearance and left feeling let down. A lot of people left after that display.
