Dawlish Air Show can today announce the first batch of participating aircraft for what is already shaping up to be a superb celebration of the UK’s Armed Forces.
Scheduled for Thursday 7th and Friday June 8th, to coincide with national Jubilee half-term week, the Dawlish Air Show is taking place over two days for the first time, although the flying display will be running on Friday only.
Thursday 7th will see Dawlish staging its very own Armed Forces Day and it is hoped that representatives from many different branches will be in place on The Lawn in the Town Centre, with a host of activities, information and fun for the whole family.
While exact details of those activities are yet to be announced, Dawlish Air Show can today confirm some of the planned flying displays items for Friday 8th’s air show – including the one and only Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows.
The “Reds”, always hugely popular at Dawlish Air Show, are delighted to be able to perform for the visitors to the 2012 air show as Dawlish is one of the team’s favourite display venues. Their new routine will give the public an opportunity to see just why the Red Arrows are regarded as one of the best aerobatic teams in the world.
The Reds won’t be the only Royal Air Force participants in the line-up either, and they will be joined by a number of their solo display colleagues with BAE Systems Hawk, Grob Tutor, Shorts Tucano and Beechcraft King Air all confirmed for the show thus far.
The Tucano should be wearing its spectacular Jubilee-themed scheme while the Hawk, it is rumoured, will also be wearing a suitably patriotic coat of paint and will be supporting the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, with the Fund’s representatives attending the show for the first time, on both the Thursday and Friday.
Additional RAF support comes from the wonderfully historic and evocative Battle of Britain Memorial Flight with the Avro Lancaster and Supermarine Spitfire, and the airborne entertainment doesn’t end there……..
Visiting Dawlish Air Show for the first time will be The Black Cats, the Royal Navy’s official display team. Utilising two Lynx attack / support helicopters, the Black Cats put on a breathtaking display of close formation flying that also demonstrates the aircraft’s record breaking speed and extreme manoeuvrability. Also representing the Royal Navy will be a Sea King search and rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, a familiar and often life-saving sight along the UK’s coastline.
More participation should be announced in due course but for more details, keep visiting http://www.dawlishairshow.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and the Dawlish Air Show Facebook group.
Please note that exact display timings will NOT be announced in advance!
