Hucknall 1969, programme.

Post by beefsteak » Sun Jun 05, 2011 3:45 pm

Hope this is the right place.
I found this old programme from the 69 airshow at Hucknall , Nott'm, and thought a few of you might like to have a look.

I found the bit about the NAM and it's on the "Ground Programme" in picture 9.

Brilliant beefsteak - that would make a good item for our Object of the Week! :thumb:

There was a bit of inflation on the ticket price for the Museum display - 10p in 1973!

Plus even back in 'the good old days' the air show was being used as a charity fund raiser for RAFA! Their Loughborough address also hasn't changed!!

Thanks for the posting Beefsteak,

Really Interesting read

I notice that item 13 on the schedule is "Any Three" - "Flour Bombing"
Never heard of that one before...what did they actually do?

I vaguely remember a high braced monoplane (Possibly a Cessna 172 or the like) a Chipmunk and a Tigermoth flying round dropping little bags of flour onto a target . It felt to me (As a 7 year old) that they were about 5 foot off the ground and about the same distance in front of us too !!

The 'streamer cutting' involved a pass at around 100 foot releasing a length of loo roll, then quick stall turns to return along the flight line cutting the streamer to shreads with the prop as many times as possible before it hit the deck

I also recall 'egg dropping' and balloon bursting with an air pistol , whilst a woman was stood next to them , but that's another story !!

Ahh happy days.!!!!!!!!!
