Re: RAF Cosford Airshow 2023
I'm looking forward to seeing them on a smaller airfield. They put on a great display, but sometimes Fairfords display area seems too big for 4x Extra 300s, so looking forward to seeing them in a smaller display area at Cosford.

Great addition, another one which I've never seen the display of. Fingers crossed for a couple more fast jet demos!

Re: RAF Cosford Airshow 2023
Where are you coming from?
I come from Birmingham direction and the first train doesn't get me in until around 10:30am. On the way back the both times I've been I've been straight onto a train from leaving the showground as there was one waiting. Howevever, last year had to change in Wolverhamption.
Project Lynx - XZ179 has self confirmed their Lynx though it is not stated if flying or static.
Re: RAF Cosford Airshow 2023
Looking at stopping in Birmingham, 10.30 the earliest train? I looked on National Rail and they said there was an 08.30 from memory

Yes, sorry I'm coming from Birmingham International not New Street and the first train from there gets me in at 10.30am as there is no train from International until 8:50am, there is indeed an earlier train from New Street.Undertaker wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 3:19 pmtraintimes.org give

Highly recommended. Both times I have been to Cosford I have been to the Cosford club and really enjoyed my time there. Will be in it again this year.

Re: RAF Cosford Airshow 2023
A while ago I was feeling more optimistic but we haven't had an update in over 3 weeks now, less than 2 months left and with the news of possible B17s groundings I am starting to worry about how thin this lineup is as no display teams outside those announced has Cosford listed.
Re: RAF Cosford Airshow 2023
Just got my ticket but the lineup is looking very thin. The NH90 demo is the highlight for me being a big BAF fan
Nothing been mentioned about the main spar issue and Sally B so far. Hopefully doesn’t affect them

Is this the first confirm for the Chinook this year? I hadn't heard anything about them this season anywhere yet

Re: RAF Cosford Airshow 2023
A possible explination as to why things maybe slow and thin right now from Aerosuperbatic Wingwalkers. This is what Team Raven were talking about last year when they had to pull out at the last minute over insurance issues it seems. Every display needs a £50m Crown Indemnity Insurance. Posted on a FB group.
Dave B here, Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers.
We’ve displayed at Cosford many times in the past. I know we’re not everyone’s cup of tea but our restriction is relevant to other teams. I’ll explain..
As Cosford is MoD, we are obliged to have £50m Crown Indemnity Insurance. The extra premium is more than our appearance fee, therefore it’s not financially viable for us to go. As I’ve said, this doesn’t just affect us, but other teams as well.
This requirement has been in place for a few years now, probably prompted by such aircraft as the Vulcan, which could easily cause millions of pounds worth of damage.
Until this is reviewed and a more reasonable (lower) limit of indemnity is put in place, then civvie acts will decline.
As an aside, this also precludes us from going to Abingdon and any families day on any RAF station. All things that have taken place in the past without incident.
Regarding the cadets flying. This is really important and must be encouraged. We need far more people interested in aviation, or you will see a future where there’s loads of airworthy vintage aircraft with no one to fly them
