But it probably will be the last time for a while at Cosford.JackWills28 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 10:06 pmI only bought myself and TomTwin’s tickets because of Couteau Delta and Rafale being confirmed for the show.Blue Thunder wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 9:18 pm
Cannot be helped these things happen but I bet some people are going to Cosford specifically to see the Rafale they are going to be disappointed.
If Couteau Delta cancel, I honestly have serious consideration not to attend. Yes, I will not get a refund, however as I will see most of those acts this summer, I do not feel the show would be worth attending, especially as you will be backlit all day.
2022 - I gave them the benefit of the doubt because of it being a post covid return and only 6 months to arrange
2023 - was a shambles with little communication on cancels. Were very active when they were announcing stuff or people praising them, but when it came to displays cancelling they went suddenly silent. We knew for weeks certain displays had cancelled before they announced it, then on the day so much went wrong.
Tonight seems to be a repeat. The fact it came from the team early afternoon, then confirmed this evening but silence from Cosford is pretty bad.
The show still looks very good, and I do think the Mirage thing is just an idiot trying to cause panic. But trust in Cosford is at a low from many people after last year.
The Rafale was a bonus, wasn't meant to be at Cosford in the first place so credit to them for moving quick at the time.
But the day trip families Cosford now aim their show towards will see the Red Arrows and Typhoon and be happy, and Cosford will call it a sucess because it sold out.
Honestly I could have flights, hotels, trains and tickets paid for me and I still would not touch Cosford with barge pole!
Cosford has to be the worst Airshow in Europe run by an Arm Arm - Year on Year bad!. And if you are going to fly to go to an Airshow there are quite a few that are orders of magnitude better than Cosford in Europe - and super cheap when you are on the ground... Its just so much a better experience
Oh well I hope you still have a good time

Re: Cosford Air Show 2024
I have to concur with Andyph, I can only imagine that the reason the RAF chose Cosford as their one and only air show venue was because it is the least disruptive, easy to access and there is the Museum of course. As for everything else, this sole remaining official RAF event should be somewhere else. That may rectify the usually poor flying line up and would also perhaps see a half decent current static lineup, like you would see at Waddington, Finningley, Leuchars etc. I agree with the sentiments of the letter, the RAF seem to have completely foresaken the once serious approach they took to displays etc. My post about the 1969 B o B displays is a distant but contrasting reminder of a portion of what once was.

it's a million miles away from BoB day Airshows.

What does't help is the manpower/personpower, downsizing and replacing service persons with contractors as airshows aren't part of a contractors contract !
Not complaining as I was in the same position but its the way it is now.

They've requested different examples from last year for the spotters

FB 'story' claiming the Mirages are still coming. No mention of the Rafales(not checked the website mind).

The Rafale already said the other week they aren't coming.
Re: Cosford Air Show 2024
Cosfords FB shared the post, but made no mention of the known Rafales cancellation. In fact, it's still listed on the website. That was my point, I'm well aware of the M2K status.
Yes, but Cosford are very much still claiming they are coming. That is the point. They've acknowledged that we have questioned the CD and have confirmed they're participation, but haven't said squat regarding the offender despite being flagged multiple times on every post they make. Again, its still on the website..James Cutting wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 11:18 am

Re: Cosford Air Show 2024
Quick question, I haven’t been Cosford for a number of years, do the Reds and Typhoon still use the alternative display axis? (to the west of the airfield) or is it back to the conventional display line?
Re: Cosford Air Show 2024
Cosford have confirmed Rafale not attending now, they've put it on a M2K video from this afternoon.

Today, the M2000's seemed to be using the conventional one. But they are French!Captian Hodgkinson wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 4:51 pmQuick question, I haven’t been Cosford for a number of years, do the Reds and Typhoon still use the alternative display axis? Re: Cosford Air Show 2024
Does anyone know what time will the arrivals and or practices start tomorrow?
It'll be my first time at Cosford air show this year and reading the above it sounds like not a lot will be in attendance. . . .
Thanks in advance.

The only things worth staying for validated today. I would not bother at all until the show on Sunday.
