What a great find, Mike. A slight concern, though, is there is no mention of the Sea King for CU Air Day.With Koksijde having an open day on the very same day, perhaps the A/Jet replaces the Sea King?d555 wrote:Just found another addition to the static in the shape of a Belgian AF Alpha Jet.

Re: Splendid.
Only just noticed this,Pete. Would certainly be nice to hear one thumping around again, must be quite a while since a UH-1 visited CU.The last occasion that i remember would be when the German Army pair visited, April 1990. Remember that day?buzzer wrote:And noted in aviation news that Vietnam vet Huey G-UHIH is also displaying.

Re: Splendid.
Probably not news for anyone else, but i have just noticed that the Classic Air Force machines are arriving on the Tuesday.
Up to now i assumed they (excepting the Rapide) would depart Newquay, display at CU, then return to Newquay on show day.

Re: Splendid.
Would love to be there for arrivals, what are the options for viewing off base?
Or would you recommend the enthusiasts package?

Re: Splendid.
If by 'enthusiasts package' you mean the preview event, it's been fully booked for a while now.
http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/The-Fleet/A ... view-Event
As for off-base viewing. Well, provided the viewing enclosure is open - occasionally in the past it has been closed-- that will be the best place untill about midday, assuming 30 is duty runway. After midday, the junction with the Helson - St. Keverne road.
If 12 is duty runway, it'll probably be dog eat dog.

Culdrose has never been anygood for"taxing" shots.but the fields at both ends of the runway are ideal for the landing snaps

Re: Splendid.
Taken from the Culdrose official website,
Military hardware already confirmed includes:
Royal Navy Black Cats - Lynx Helicopter Display Team Royal Navy Submarine Hunter Killer - Merlin HM 1 & 2, Commando Helicopter Force -`Junglie’ Sea King’s, Lynx Wildcat Maritime Force – Royal Navy Wildcat, RAF Red Arrows – Hawks, Royal Navy 736 Sqn – Hawks , Belgium – Search & Rescue Sea King , German Navy - Search & Rescue Sea King, Dutch Army - Apache and NH90 French Air Force - Alpha Jet. RAF – Tornado and a Special surprise star asset!
So what's the special surprise star asset??

Re: Splendid.
No idea what the star asset would be, my guess - purely a guess, mind - would be a static VC-10, certainly something military.
Also good news on the Tornado and Dutch NH-90!

Re: Splendid.
So is that a Dutch Army NH-90? Sweet if it is.
Still a bit confused about the Belgium Seaking.there web site show its an Alpha Jet thats attending?
And star asset??. Its listed after the RAF tornado,so might be a VC-10,or maybe a typhoon?!
Or could it be something from a foreign air arm? Like the Turkish F-16!
Now that would be sweet

Re: Splendid.
Just a thought. But I'm shore I read somewhere (maybe on this forum?)that at waddington they were referring to the Sentinel as there"star asset "???could it be this maybe??
Re: Splendid.
Another thought. Perhaps the French Navy's Super Etendard and Rafale , from the original list? Confirmed during the French Admiral's visit a couple of weeks back.

Re: Splendid.
I received my tickets last week. I see entrance this year has been changed from W Site to B site with parking at the viewing area. I'm hoping there will be adequate parking over thereDaveG wrote: Anyone else booked up for day before ?

Didn't go down to well for public relations for air day!!
Anyway I'm not going to be negative.....I know were I'm going to be parked

Re: Splendid.
Regarding the star asset: I appreciate things are probably a little busy for him at the moment, and he could well be on paternity leave by 24.07, but picking up on the SAR theme - perhaps it's Prince William in a Sea King 3 given that the precedent was set in 1975 (I think) when Prince Charles flew a Wessex 5 in the Commando Assault.
Re: Splendid.
Poor old culdrose never seem to have much luck with the weather on airday
Looking at the long range forecast, looks like after weeks of unbroken sunshine,it's all set to change next week. Tuesday ,Wednesday And Thursday looks to be overcast with the chance of Heavy showers
hopeful it blows through and we get more clear spells than showers!
