heard the approach control at 17:00 when announcing "the airfield is now closed scheduled to reopen at 21:15 for the return of 2 lynx!" so guessing thay were still out with the ship,as neither were on the deck at CU when i passed by just before 17:00.. but the chinook was still there in the same place it was last night!! guess its still unserviceable!! :roll:

it may be worth keeping an ear out on 241.075 for any action between aircraft and the ship, i had a few bits on here earlier, you guys may have a bit more luck! On another note there was a HS125 ZE395 calling RRR1388 kicking about down this way around 20.25 looked like it scooted up from the Plymouth direction before i lost it only to reappear about 30mins (ish) later going back up country

Does anybody what know for certain what helicopters ( in numbers - not serials ie How many of each type?)are embarked with the Task Group?
From what i can gather, officially the Air Element of the Response Force Task Group consists of;

4x Sea King 4
3x Lynx AH.7
3x Apache
2x Lynx HMA,8
2xSea King ASaC.7 - Scabby snap, but off they go Monday afternoon
Image

Merlins of 814 and 829

Lynx Mk.7s visiting Culdrose this week so far = XZ177. XZ191. XZ654 and XZ645 (XZ645 = the only Lynx i have positively read-off so far) - so, that is already one over the official complement.

So there is a different Chinook in yesterday from the one earlier in the week.
Also when I passed you on my way home last night MALF I noted two lynx parked up aswell as the two chinooks
And looking at Dave's log above. One of the lynx night be a different machine aswell??

ZD983 appears to be having the same issues as ZH777 had earlier in the week!
2 x Lynx AH.7 i read-off earlier (09:30) were XZ177 (Marines titles) and XZ191 (Army titles).
ZD268 = MK.8, couldn't see it while i was out there.

Chinook was operating from a ship in St. Austell Bay, delivering bits of a bridge to Crinnis beach. Had a great afternoon watching that and the Royal Marines playing in their boats and hovercraft. Military aviation on a beach in Cornwall. Very nice to see.

Yeh I was there too, a Junglie landed on the beach around 1400, Wokka landed around 1500 and brought 3 USL'S in from the Hartland Point.
Bulwark and Mounts Bay also moored in St Austell with various Marine craft coming and going to the beach.
A larger vessel appeared on the horizon in the afternoon with Apaches, Lynx and Sea Kings carrying out approaches to it.

Chinook returned to beach at 1815 to pick up USL's.

What a great day!!

Hi all,
This may or may not be related!! - This morning at around 0900BST (0800Z) I observed an AEW Sea KIng (with its 'bagger' radar lowered) manouevering to the NE of here - distance estimated at 5 miles and estimated height 2200ft. It was circling, sharply at times, then it moved away to the east and disappeared.
Did any of your 'boxes' pick this up?? Would be interested to know!! Many thanks --Paul :thumb:

Update: After some searching and checking, can only assume there were two Sea King HC4s around. ZG820 is showing up on another two logs further up county. Guess with the Marines around I'd expect a few HC4s in the area.

Sorry Dave should have said, there were definitely two mk 4's yesterday in the bay up at the same time.
