Yeovilton could be a "cracker" if the organisers jump on the fact that if USS George Bush is playing off the SW coast then they potentially grab F-18E/F, F-18 Growlers, SH-60 Seahawks, C-2 Greyhounds and E-2C Hawkeyes.
The Exercise was due at the end of May but according to the discussion on FC, it has been put back 4 weeks which would mean, end of June so the Ex which will be going for 2-3 weeks would mean it would overlap Yeovilton Air Day

They stopped us all from going near the fence on 27 last year and initially the Police told us that it was the farmer who got fed up with everyone. Then as the day went on, the farmer didn't give a monkeys (he said so, and said what the police were telling everyone wasn't the story, the story was, the ATC had complaints from some of the crews the year previously and wanted everyone out of the approach lights and under the centre line.).

As the afternoon went on even further the police were letting some of us near the fence again and up near the dispersal site.

From the byeway next to the stream (where they moved us too) it was possible even with 100mm to get very good photos of approaches. All they have to do this year is mark off the approach / centre line by 50m each side (100m clearance for the aircraft which is way good enough) and let everyone get on with it like they have done for years gone by.
If the farmer had sense, he could charge us all 1 quid too, that way he would make between 500-2000 quid over the weekend.

Easy solutions for everyone to be happy:-

1. Mark off the centreline/lights by 50m each side. (ample room for safety) even with large aircraft.
2. Charge people £2 so they can park in the Photocall field instead of blocking up the lanes causing havoc. The carpark is only used for a few hours throughout the day. £1 could go to the farmer and £1 to the VLN show.
3. Ban dogs from the field, some irresponsible idiots take their dogs and one in particular had it chasing the sheep two years ago. Very clever.

There was a sense of great disbelief and anger when the police came up to everyone last year saying oh fudge off. After all these years of able to view the arrivals. The best they can do is the above to keep people happy.

Many people do pay to go inside on the AIR SHOW DAY.
This was regarding the arrivals.. Those who pay to go in on the photocall during the arrivals get the sun in their faces all afternoon and a TACAN in their view.

Its not freeloading at all. Its a frigging airfield, if people want to photo aircraft arriving on a Friday then why can't they without having to pay? Its a normal working day, people do it around fence lines everywhere do they not?
Most of the stuff that does appear at Yeovilton you can find elsewhere at an airfield during the week.

Glad i didn't pay for the show last year (was in the press enclosure) as i couldn't see half of the show due to the tacan in the way. Not much better in the public display line either with ignorant 'bleeps' sitting with their families with umbrellas, picnics etc and not even looking at the display but facing towards the crowd! I couldn't get within 10ft of the fence due to it being totally overcrowded with people not taking the slightest interest in what was flying at all. Just sitting their yapping to each other.
I'm sure many of us who go every year inside the base and outside have seen the same problems i have described.
You get a better photo op outside the airfield in various places and everyone will tell you that.

You going to tell those looking out their windows from their houses at Fairford arrivals to pay 'cause they are freeloading?
No such thing as a freeloader.

So being outside the fence is more dangerous than being inside the fence now? Say that to all those who have perished inside the fence due to major incidents.
How many outside the airfields have perished during airshows compared to those inside?
You cannot compare at all. What about those near the Church? Or driving past the airfield in their cars on the A303 and the villages/farms all around the place. How is it dangerous if you are sensible?
For the last 5 years i have been inside and outside. I prefer outside purely for the banter, fun and photo opportunities. As do many hundreds of other people who enjoy the hobby.

You don't need to stand amongst the lights, i never did when the Vulcan came in that low a couple of years ago...

Are those who go to free airshows, freeloaders? Is it dangerous because they are not within an organised fenceline? Standing on the beach at Southend with people in the water and a Harrier loses an engine and crashes into the water near to the kids.

On what day do the aircraft usually depart - Sunday or Monday?
