Us old fogies can remember the days when 24+ Wessex 5's were in the Junglie assault, and we bemoaned the day when the SK4's arrived and numbers dropped to 18 or so, even if sometimes bolstered by a Chinook or two.

And Mick would arrange for the R27 helicopter flight-line to be walked down in the evening of the spotters day.

The 21st July is the memorial event for Capt Eric 'Winkle' Brown, approx 1,000 invited guests for the event being held at South Dispersal, a flypast of types flown by Winkle will take place, rehearsal on the 20th
Any idea what's taking part may have to get down for that!

There are notices up in Ilchester this week that the main road through the town (the old A303) Is going to be closed for 3 days from 29th June. They've been dicking about with the drains/water mains for the past 2 weeks, so I suspect it's related. Anyhow, that's Wed 29th, Thr 30th and Fri 1st. If you're planning to go to Yeovilton on any of the arrivals days, it looks like you're going to have to avoid going through Ilchester. Locals will know how to do this via the Podimore roundabout :ninja:

I hope they get the work finished on/by 1st, coz if it overruns traffic control for Airday on the 2nd is going to be 'interesting' :P

I see on it's web site Sally-B is going to stay at Yeovilton until the 3rd, after landing last Friday and not displaying at Weston or Welshpool

Flying display doesn't really impress to be fair with a lack of fast jets. Still going to give it a go though. Lancaster cancelled today

I'm guessing the flying display participants are as we see them now, too late for any more to be added I'd assume.

Morning All,

Just been caught out by the advance ticket only for Friday, sales no longer available and cannot pay on the day, tried ringing the promoter, told I was too late, nothing to do to help :-(

My question is, how much do they close the local area on the Friday, is there still anywhere you can photograph from ??

Thanks for any information.

Rob

You have somewhere between Bob Hope & No Hope of getting anywhere close to Yeovilton without an Entrance Ticket!
If you've read the Traffic Order, you'll have discovered it's easier to get closer to Area 51 than Yeovilton this coming w/e!
For what's on offer & given the current weather cycle, better to save your time & money for another day ? :halo:
