Air Day website has confirmed a Swordfish Flying and one static. A sea Fury flying and a Wasp.
Great additions to the show.
On the e-mail announcing the inclusion of the Navy Wings Heritage Flight aircraft in the flying display or on the ground, they also said the Wasp will be opening the display flying in formation with the newly returned to flying Wessex HU5

What a way to start the day!

On the Air Day facebook page, they are also saying the Wasp as well as taking part in the opening flypast will be doing a solo display.

I read into the email they could be announcing a F-35 fly past at a later date, or is that just wishful thinking. An RAF one did the flypast at Fairford last year with the Lancaster and Tornado, The Past, The Present, and The Future.
I read the same thing into it. I seem to remember they tried to get one last year (a week before RIAT) but didn't manage it. If they don't get one this year I think they'll look a bit silly having made it such a large centrepiece of the poster.
The poster also has a large image of a Canadian CF-18. Should we expect one of those, or was that left over from the 2018 poster?

Mind you, the F-35 image was of one operating in beast mode and I'm not sure we've seen that in UK airspace yet.

I can't see any CF-18 on the poster they sent me, and the F-35 isn't in beast mode (as I understand it anyway, but I'm no expert)

Fair enough Del. The air show poster I described was in the vestibule outside the Swordfish restaurant last Wednesday. Now I'm worried  I was looking at last year's edition. I'll have to go back and check . :S

Was reassured, yesterday, to be able to confirm that there is more than one design of poster advertising this year's show. The one outside the Fleet Air Arm museum café does indeed show the CF-18 and the tooled-up F-35, and looks to be a bastardised version of the 2018 poster.

Very interesting update for the static today
Auster x 11 – Privately-owned (static)
Nanchang CJ-6A – Privately-owned (static)
L-3B Grasshopper - Privately-owned (static)
O-1A Birddog - Privately-owned (static
The Royal Navy International Air Day's big gathering of former military observation platforms. At its core is a never-before-seen Auster line-up of every military model, from the Taylorcraft Auster 1 to the Auster AOP11 and Beagle Husky. These characterful, high-winged types might have lacked a fighter’s speed, or a bomber’s weapons load, but excelled as airborne ‘spotters’, especially in Normandy when they were the first powered aircraft to land after D-Day and later proved themselves once again over jungle territory in the Far East.

PARTICIPATION UPDATE!

Meteor T7 x 2 – Martin-Baker (Static)
Avro XIX – BAE Systems (Static)

At least one, possibly both, of Europe’s only airworthy Gloster Meteors will be making a return appearance to the Royal Navy International Air Day’s static display on Saturday 13th July. They will be joined by the only flying Avro XIX, representing a post-war Anson C19.

PARTICIPATION UPDATE

Br.1050 Alizé - Association Alizé Marine (Flying)
CM.175 Zéphyr - Association Zéphyr 28 (Flying)
MS.760 Paris - Armor Aéro Passion (Flying)

Making its UK airshow debut, the mighty Alizé submarine-hunter will be displaying at the Royal Navy International Air Day on Saturday 13 July.

As part of the ‘Cocardes Marine’ heritage flight, the Alizé will be joined by former French Navy types, the CM175 Zéphyr and the MS760 Paris, to make their first joint UK mainland appearance. The Zéphyr and Alizé are the world’s only fliers, while the Paris is the sole example flying in Europe. All three types are privately-operated in France and international appearances each year are rare.

It's looking like a really good show. If they just get a few more, like the French Navy Rafales and another F-16 (oh, and an F-35B), it'll be great.
Well, that's what I said a month ago, and although the stuff announced is pretty good, it's a bit thin in the afterburners department. With under 8 weeks to go now, do we think we'll get much more added in the way of fast jets ?

PARTICIPATION UPDATE
AT-6C Texan (Harvard IIA) – Anglian War Birds (Flying)
This smart US Navy-marked former military trainer brings colour, noise and vintage class to Air Day's flying display on Saturday 13 July!
Nice update adding a splash of colour to the day. Air Day is shaping up to be another good show again this year, with a varied flying display of old and new. As for it being short of afterburners, I'll get my afterburner fix the following weekend at RIAT Fairford.

Where's the 'grunt' coming from this year? So far there's hardly any meat on the bones by way of jet powered military hardware. Which, after last years excellent fast jet participation, is worrying. Personally, the propeller stuff just doesn't interest us, we're in need of fast and very loud please.
