Duxford dates for 2021
Airshows

2021 will see two Air Shows take place at IWM Duxford over weekends in July and September. These will include entertaining ground content and of course, our signature air displays. Our focus will be on the safety of visitors, staff and volunteers, adapting and responding to the changing environment as required.

2021 will see the introduction of ten Flying Days which will run on various dates from April to October. From D-Day to commemorating the valiant efforts of RAF Duxford’s Squadron 19, each of these Flying Days will be themed and will allow visitors the chance to explore our museum and pop up displays and experiences, before enjoying hours of flying action in the skies.

So I guess they wanted rid of flying legends to make way for their own July show.

Flying Legends, RIAT, Duxford and Yeovilton in the same month? Should have left it in May where it was, or even June, space things out about.

Those 4 in one month will lead to a heavy hit on my bank account and then add Farnboro' in '22 if the pattern stays the same.

However, with regard to Duxford, I wonder if they have looked at the Covid situation and thought the chance of the May show being cancelled at the last minute was too much of a risk to take. Also, the flying days are quite popular and the pre-booked tickets sell out - so maybe to have 10 guaranteed crowds of 2000-3000 than one of 15000 which may not happen is the thinking. They will also be cheaper to put on, albeit they'll lose the fees from traders and the premium packages.

Yea in a business sense they've got it spot on, just not sure if 4 large airshows in the same month (5 if Farnborough happens) is the best plan, would think majority of general public would only go to one in that month, where as if they were spaced out more may attend each one.

Who know's if shows of any size will go ahead next year!

Disappointed in the moving from May, with it being the week after RIAT I don't think I can make 2 trips to England from NI on successive weekends. I will definitely be going to the September show.

Behind the scenes at IWM Duxford, we’ve been working hard to plan for a fantastic season of flying events in 2021, including two summer Air Shows and a series of Flying Days.

In light of recent government announcements, we are looking forward to sharing everything we’ve been working on for the past few months and, although there will be some changes and limited ticket numbers, we remain positive that we can entertain and delight audiences with the signature air displays we have become known for.

Sign up to our enews to be the first to know when tickets go on sale, or keep following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We can’t wait to welcome you back to Duxford Air Shows.

Further update from Executive Director of Duxford Airshows, John Brown

A message from John Brown, Executive Director, Duxford Air Shows

Behind the scenes at IWM Duxford, we’ve been working hard with partners across the aviation community to plan for a fantastic season of flying events in 2021. In light of the recent government announcement, we hope our hard work will mean you can safely join us for our two summer Air Shows and series of Flying Days, formerly known as Showcase Days.

We know the last 12 months have been hard for everyone and remain positive that we can entertain and delight audiences with the signature air displays we have become known for. We already have some incredible acts confirmed and we are in contact with the relevant governing bodies to ensure your health and safety remains our priority. Of course, we have had to make some changes to ensure our events can physically go ahead, including limiting ticket numbers in line with government guidance, and are almost ready to confirm everything we’ve been working so hard for to you enjoy.

I have been trying to book a Flying Day at Duxford, recently the museum have only had the month of May open to book but with the two Flying days sold out or unavailable.
This morning I went back on the booking site and see that they have released more months through to September. Again the Flying Days show to be sold out or unavailable.
Are these days actually sold out or will they be booked separately from the ordinary weekends. I'm hoping the latter.

It means they are unavailable as they are not on sale yet. Airshows and Flying Days are sold separately to the normal admission tickets via their own section of the website. That booking page is only for normal non event days I believe.

Every event date on their booking, be it flying days or airshows are showing up in white. Don't worry, they have not sold out.

Thanks, knew the actual actual Airshows were separate but wasn't sure on the flying days. Bet they will go quickly when released as well. :thumb:

With smaller crowds for the flying days perhaps it will mean the end of two hour plus queues to get in.

Duxford put out a warning today about fake airshow tickets as some places are apparently trying to sell tickets that don't actually exist yet.
