Daks over Normanday Facebook have just advised they have 37 confirmed C-47/DC-3 participating.

Seems a bit higher than what we have seen logged on here.

Wow, what a lazy way to run social media!

I'm assuming the poster got the 37 figure from the FB page which directs viewers to the FAQ which in turn directs to the - wait for it - original, untouched, unedited list of aircraft on the Daks website!

I cannot understand why someone can't spare an hour or so to upload an accurate list...

Anyway, we think we know that we are getting 14 or 15 aircraft from the US, plus a confirmed 12 from Europe.

Now unless something has gone seriously wrong with my maths, that makes a grand total of 26 or 27. I'm guessing that there will be the odd dropout at the last minute, so it's probably going to end up being 23-25 - certainly nowhere near their STILL quoted figure of 37!

Just a quick update re the stragglers:

N24320 - arr QFO 28/05
N18121 - arr RKV 28/05.
N341A - expected Moosonee, Canada later today, 29/05.
N74589 - FlightAware says arr QFO 27/05, PIK movements has it still at PIK 29/05.
N877MG - ? flight test PIK 29/05 (40 mins round trip).

That's all folks...

On further research, I can't make the Euro contingent add up to 12 - following are guesses based on FlightAware and Google etc:

Active this month (and thus possible):
PH-PBA (Netherlands)
N473DC (UK)
OH-LCH (Finland)
ZA947 (UK)
N431HM (France)
LN-WND (Norway)
OY-BPB (Denmark)
N147DC (UK)
HA-LIX (Hungary)
F-AZOX (France)

So that makes 10. All the others listed on the Daks site really really don't look likely to make it.

So 2 we don't know about yet??

On Sunday will they be parked up near the museum or on the far side of the airfield

A couple of current movers and one planned today.

N150D is currently airborne out of Wick and heading south as of 11:10
N18121 is currently airborne out of Reykjavik and heading towards the UK as of 11:10
N341A is flight planned YYR-UAK and due to depart in the next hour.

what I believe is the current situation

At Duxford (12 aircraft)
C-47B-50-DK 45-1108 – Clipper Tabitha May – N33611
C-47-DL Skytrain 42-32833 – Legend Airways ‘Liberty’ – N25641- D-DAY VETERAN
C-47A-15-DK 42-92847 – That’s All, Brother – N47TB - D-DAY VETERAN
C-47A-40-DL Skytrain 42-24064 – Placid Lassie – N74589 – Lead Aircraft - D-DAY VETERAN
C-47A-60-DL 43-30665 – Miss Virginia – N47E - USAF VETERAN
C-53-DO Skytrooper 42-68830 – D-Day Doll – N45366- D-DAY VETERAN
C-47B-5-DK 43-48608 – Betsy’s Biscuit Bomber – N47SJ - BERLIN AIRLIFT VETERAN
C-47A-30-DL 42-23669/FD879 – Flabob Express – N103NA - WWII VETERAN with RAF in India
C-47A-60-DL 43-30647 – Virginia Ann – N62CC - D-DAY VETERAN
C-53-DO Skytrooper 42-47371 – Spirit of Benovia – N8336C - WWII VETERAN, CBI Theater
C-47A-90-DL 43-15731 – Miss Montana – N24320 - Used to pioneer the concept of ‘smoke jumping’
C-47B-1-DL 43-16340 – Pan Am – N877MG - WWII VETERAN, CBI Theater

that should give a total of 15 aircraft from the US. I think its fair to assume that N534BE, N836M, N472AF, N29TN and N28AA are not going to be present as they are all still in the US and not moving.

Post edited to reflect the fact that N877MG arrived in Duxford yesterday according to FR24

Looks like we may have finally got confirmation on the programme, downloadable from here.

https://www.iwm.org.uk/events/daks-over-duxford

Wednesday looks poor, just a mass take off and flypast.
The planned morning mini show appears to have been pulled.

and N18121 is currently descending towards Inverness where I assume it will nightstop.

interestingly DC3 C-GAWI from the Alfred Wagner Institute has recently left KEF heading towards Europe, I dont believe its connected with the event given its not been on any publicity and it frequently spends its summers in Bremen.

Can't give you a clear answer however as of 1100 today there were 4 Daks northside and the rest are still south of the runway.

Does anyone know what the dday aircraft parade is at Duxford?

On the Tuesday it says air display, but on the Wednesday it doesn't.

Thanks

It's just departed Inverness and is heading South.

two more movements today
N18121 has departed Inverness and if at FL100 presumably inbound Duxford.
N341A has departed REK and is heading towards the UK. I would guess it will night stop in Scotland somewhere before moving to Duxford tomorrow.

the D Day Squadron facebook is referring to the "magnificent 15" which would seem to confirm that N341A is the "tail end charlie" and that there have been 5 cancellations from the listed aircraft on the Daks over Normandy webpage.

Just had a text from my parents, 3 Dakotas have just flow over Hornchurch with " a smaller plane" but routing south which would be away from Duxford

"Smaller plane" is a Cessna Caravan, they're heading to the South Coast for an air to air photoshoot.

Thanks MRTT, my parents are good with things like C47/Dakota's and anything military, but a caravan is towed behind a car 😁

Correct, some nice photos of them running along the white cliffs, the seven sisters and beachey head.
Will be the best place to see the big flypast from next week.
