Have they? I've seen more events confirming they're taking place than not!
I seem to recall that literally days after the tragic death of Princess Diana, the Queen officiated in the opening of the American Air Museum at Duxford. at the time I was quite surprised at this, as the event could have been postponed until after the funeral.
Agree totallyAndy Marden wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 2:14 pmWhich I have to say is also my opinion.
I do understand though that this is a highly emotive subject, with two distinct camps:
a) cancel everything until the funeral
b) show respect, and then continue with life - as has the Monarchy itself
As we know, the two European football matches on Thursday went ahead, given the short time period after the announcement. Suitable respect was given (silence etc) and then they were played. I'm struggling personally to understand why they cancelled all of this weekend's fixtures. Exactly the same respect could (and would) have been given.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but chatting with one of the Duxford staff yesterday, Buckingham Palace were consulted and Buckingham Palace said go ahead with it. IWM Museums are closing on the day of the funeral.

There is no obligation to cancel or postpone events and sporting fixtures, or close entertainment venues
during the National Mourning period. This is at the discretion of individual organisations.
As a mark of respect, organisations might wish to consider cancelling or postponing events or closing
venues on the day of the State Funeral. They are under no obligation to do so and this is entirely at the
discretion of individual organisations.
If sporting fixtures or events are planned for the day of the State Funeral, organisations may want to adjust
the event timings so they do not clash with the timings of the funeral service and associated processions.
As a mark of respect, and in keeping with the tone of National Mourning, organisers may wish to hold a
period of silence and/or play the National Anthem at the start of events or sporting fixtures, and players
may wish to wear black armbands.

I also fervently believe that, were she in a position to have said so, Her Late Majesty would have been the first to say that she would wish everything to continue as normal. Just my view!. I was 10 when her Father, George V1 died. I was very disappointed that the cinema was closed as I was going to see Scrooge {bit irrelevant]. I think there is nothing to be gained by cancelling events, except on the Funeral Day.
Wasn't there, but seems to me that Ben Dunnells' list of pilots & aircraft read-out on PA.for Sunday after they landed, could include that info' for MH415/ZDE on their airshow recorded webcast of Saturday?
