Boeing didn't fly anything today as a mark of respect to the Malaysian Airlines catastrophe which involved one of their a/c types. Also all the flags in the showground were lowered to half mast first thing this morning as a similar mark of respect.

I realised about the flags but I didn't hear the full story from the Boeing rep.

Early F/A-18F Super Hornet flight was 168890, the other F/A-18F being in static. Nice to catch it flying twice as I missed it at Fairford.

Two fast passes with "max rate turns" that disappeared off towards Blackbushe, a lengthy hover and climb out and then land.

Looked darn awful and a real disappointment.

Saw the AV8 'display' on Friday & what a disappointment! I was waiting patiently on the north-side of the airfield for some vapour squeezing tight turns...it was the shitliest! I've seen oil tankers turn tighter than that! Closest it ever got was take-off & landing. To think I was waiting to be reminded why we should've kept the RAF ones, only to wonder based on that feeble demo' why we kept 'em so long?

I think they were being cautious with the display, the dedicated RAF display was a lot better yes. Still very nice to see one flying again, best item still the vulcan & constellation was stunning too.

The AV-8B did a very good display on Friday, including an extended hovering and hovering-turns section right in front of the centre area of the crowd

What is all this about?? As long as the crew were operating within the defined safety limitations of the aircraft & rules of the aerodrome I don't see the problem.

Are companies not allowed to “show off” their product in a safe but dynamic routine anymore?

TBH, i thought this guy who i spoke with there on Tuesday, was spinning a yarn when he said the 787 display on Monday saw the right wing 'almost hit the ground' when being thrown to the right on the touch and go. I guess the organisers decided it was just a bit too dynamic (maybe 'worse' than the validation display). Shame to miss that photo op, but better safe than sorry etc! Video's on YouTube.

Could anyone be kind enough to let me know what the serial of the AAC Lynx was that flew on Saturday?

Just like to add on this thread that I had no queuing parking or getting out of the car parks. The only queue was for the bus from Farnborough back to the car park. A big thumbs up to the planners with this!

Went to Farnborough for the first time on Sunday - courtesy of my eldest son who bought us gold tickets as a belated 60th birthday present. Best display was the Lynx doing things a helicopter shouldn't be expected to do. Of course the Vulcan was great and the Red Arrows (as always). Good display by the F18 but I was disappointed by the new Typhoon, lots of noise but little else. The Harrier was a big let down after seeing the RAF displays of years past; and the fact that he was so far away... Lovely to see the Anson and Connie. Very impressed by the young ladies of the Breitling team. Some nice aircraft on the static lines especially the Pembroke and the line behind the Vulcan from Tiger Moth to Hunter.

That's interesting, I didn't see any new Lightning at the show.

ooops, sorry, was looking at the programme and typed Lightning instead of Typhoon - blame it on old age

they havnt been open for the last 2 shows !
