FRIAT - what is it and is it worth it?

As per the heading - any advantage? (notwithstanding the price of course)

I wouldn’t go back to general entry ticket. Enclosure for the dodgy weather days and access to the grandstand on Monday is why I do it. Although the price is getting over the top

Would be nice if they reintroduced the flightline walk. Never got to do one as I was Mach 2 at that time and it was limited to Mach 3

Crowd Centre and Grandstand seating would be the biggest advantage. (Own enterence queue also?)

I was tempted to do FRIAT this year, but with the changes the made, meaning the ticket was for all 6 days it made it a bit redundant for me as I can't attend the Wednesday, Thursday and Monday so seemed like I was wasting half the ticket.

Pre covid it was great, post covid & considering the price you pay vs what you see. I will not be re-newing my FRIAT Mach 3 pass next year.

For the first time i opted to do FRIAT this year. When looking at the seats it stated for 6 days starting on Wednesday the 12th. So, I went ahead despite the price and received an email stating the seat number and 6 days starting on the 12th. However, looking on the FRIAT members area it said the enclosure is shut on the Wednesday, so I queried this and indeed it is shut.
Cant help feeling a little cheated here.

Ok, so why not state as such and start your seat allocation from the Thursday, instead of the misleading information given starting on the Wednesday.

Sounds like RAFCTE owe you 1/6th of your ticket price back.

Is FRIAT any good for the non photographer?

It can be if you are looking for a place to escape the crowds (with a seat to yourself, your own catering outlets and toilets) plus access over six days. Cameras are not essential.

100% agree. I lost interest in photography over a decade ago but I always get a FRIAT ticket. The grandstand is at display centre and the view is great so you get to watch the flying display, arrivals and departures from the best seat in the house. In addition, you will be sat with like minded aviation enthusiasts rather than the families who are just there on a day out. It guarantees you a seat so no scrambling for the crowdline on entry, plus you get a daily movements sheet. A camera is not a prerequisite, just go along and enjoy!

Thanks Timmo. That still sounds good to me. I see they are still available. Do we think there will be some still available at the end of the week?

I don’t think it ever sells out 100%. Check the following link. Still shows plenty of seats available if the seating map is up to date https://www.airtattoo.com/friat-grandstand

It’s only in the last few shows I’ve invested in a camera. The first 10ish years in FRIAT I sat and watched. Still don’t like being behind the camera all the time. Feel like I’m missing out when I do

There is also a dedicated marquee - anybody who remembers 2008 will recall the shoulder to shoulder press as the rain came down in Biblical proportions.

In the days when I attended, I went to watch an Airshow, not stare through a video camera lens. Learn't to appreciate flying skills etc., Whatever you do, I guess it's still a great event, though not for some of us who attended in the 'glory days' Enjoy it. It will probably not get better, but that's the way of the world.

Interesting they are emailing about FRIAT places still available. Has the pricing structure put people off

They are really pushing it. Sponsored adds on social media.

It's usually sold out way before now isn't it?
