Re: A10 DEMO
Think in common with all aviation & non aviation events etc for 2021 bookings are made as easier to make then cancel.

Re: A10 DEMO
As the aircraft is TBD, more likely an F-15 Heritage Flight with the Friedkin's P-51's. Lot of expense to bring an A-10 or two/ground crew/equipment all the way across the pond just for two British airshows.
Re: A10 DEMO
I may have missed where it says the aircraft is TBD, Its the A-10 Demo Team so why would it be anything but the A-10?Pen Pusher wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 9:23 amAs the aircraft is TBD, more likely an F-15 Heritage Flight with the Friedkin's P-51's. Re: A10 DEMO
There was something going round yesterday saying TBD, but the A10 team posted it a few hours after.

Re: A10 DEMO
The US ACC website had Fairford listed as TBD under displays until the A10 released their schedule later that evening.tomw wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 9:32 amI may have missed where it says the aircraft is TBD, Its the A-10 Demo Team so why would it be anything but the A-10?Pen Pusher wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 9:23 amAs the aircraft is TBD, more likely an F-15 Heritage Flight with the Friedkin's P-51's. Blimey that was quick guys..Thanks
Re: A10 DEMO
Flying 2 or 3 A-10's over for a few weeks in the UK doesn't sound that likely to me. I wonder if this points towards another deployment of DM A-10's to Europe next summer for a European Security thing - can't remember the name. Easier to fly the ACC trained display pilots over and 'borrow' an A-10 already deployed to the theatre than fly it here just for a few shows.

No different to the F22/F35 demo teams, who've brought a couple jets to the UK for a couple shows in recent years.

Re: A10 DEMO
A-10's transit at (roughly) half the speed of those types, and usually go via Lajes/Kef in addition to stops on the US eastern seaboard. Additional crew rest periods mean it's at least a 5 day trip from DM to the UK. That means additional expense, and tying up Tanker aircraft for longer periods of time. I know F-15's have gone non-stop from Holloman to Gilze in about 12 hours, and suspect F22's could do the same. No chance in an A10.np1991 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 11:56 amMalcolm wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 7:21 pmFlying 2 or 3 A-10's over for a few weeks in the UK doesn't sound that likely to me. Re: A10 DEMO
The manufacturers and their industry partners have dipped deep into their pockets in recent years to bring those two types over as they allowed them showcase their brand and work as well as wow potential new customers, it's been the same for the F/A-18 in near recent times too. I can't imagine the A-10 will get the same financial love.np1991 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 11:56 amMalcolm wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 7:21 pmFlying 2 or 3 A-10's over for a few weeks in the UK doesn't sound that likely to me.
