Haha it doesn't matter really ;) I don't get the point of them given some people 30 minutes notice - what does that achieve?!

As a charity how can they afford to keep and pay salaried staff for another without any income who will just be sat about ?

Would the trustees not allocate that money to charitable causes ?
Maybe some of the roll over money will go to the organisation? Perhaps a skeleton staff to keep it ticking over?
They are a BUSINESS !!! If they had made the INEVITABLE Call earlier the Staff (minions) & expensive upper Salary-takers (Management & Board) could've sat back on furlough like a high percentage of the rest of the Country. With two years of No-Shows & still expending effort & expenses up to the last knockings, what sort of pitiful financial amount will make it to the Charity Coffers in 2022? Farcical behaviour that now sees them pleading for 'Ticket Rollovers'..... Could that really tip the balance? :grr:

Cancellation aside, what I personally find disappointing is that members of this forum (in error or not) - a community that often criticises the media for breaking embargoes, or for only giving out half the story, broke the trust RIAT management put in its RIAT membership. In doing so they may well have put in jeopardy the respect RIAT members deserve, and from being giving future privileged information.

It's a shame public floggings have been abolished :-)

The point had already been made and dealt with, with an apology, as it was missed - after all it was only one member. It's a pointless rule anyway - you aren't gaining anything more than anyone else by receiving a cancellation email 30 minutes prior to others!

I highly doubt that RIAT are going to check Fighter Control and suddenly stop sharing things ever so slightly earlier because of that. Bit OTT mate.

No need to beg or even 'ask' IMO. As you correctly say, cat was out of the bag before you posted. Besides that, I struggle to find too much sympathy for a Company that has failed to respond to polite requests for the slightest update on status/ likelihood or current view on the possibility of a 2021 Event. This Forum suggested various dates when perhaps some information from DBH might be released as a true account of the situation, the most obvious being after 'Bojo's routemap out of Lockdown. However, he always caveats anything he says by stating that it's all subject to scientific updates by his Advisors which tend to suggest that it 'might' be the new normal by Christmas 2021....only if the Vacc's work as advertised & we don't encounter a mutant unresponsive strain of C.19.

Sadly No, I don't feel lucky, there is always next year though ;)
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

If they stop giving advance notice to RIAT members because of the break in trust, I think the membership will want you and the others to do more than that :-)

Another viewpoint?

RIAT members are merely customers of a business. The customers receive information as part of the sales policy

You can search the charity commission

https://www.gov.uk/find-charity-information

I am not a RIAT specialist but from the www RIAT is run by the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprise RAFCTE which is a subsidiary if you like of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust RAFCT. I think you will only find the parent RAFCT activities submitted to gov UK. I would assume that the net profit from RAFCTE activities ( mostly RIAT?) are donated to RAFCT.

https://register-of-charities.charityco ... y-overview

RAFCT year to 29 Feb 2020
Total income: £12,140,941
Total expenditure: £11,546,975

Break down of expenditure
Raising funds £112.32k
Charitable activities £11.43m
Other £0

Breakdown of income
Donations and legacies £545.20k
Charitable activities £11.57m
Other trading activities £0
Investments £26.79k
Other £0

Correct, but if they receive private, therefore privileged information, they may lose that privilege. Therefore, just be given news when every other punter receives it :-(

As in days of yore! Jam sandwiches in a brown paper bag stuffed in the front of your shirt and taking it in turns to ride one handed carrying a bottle of Tizer/Corona to share. 🚴🏻‍♂️
Hiding the bikes, then creeping along the fence (3 strands of barbed wire) before sneaking up to examine the planes.
Beats carting cameras radios and fighting for a space amongst gazillions of people.

Have a nice day😷

You were 'carrying Corona to share' all the time back then? Have you ever been to Wuhan? :halo:

Charitable Activities £11.5 m

But hang on, its not actually a donation to charity of £11.5m its merely the trading activity "related" to the charity?

Well that could include a £50k salary to the CEO ?

Just a guess, my cynical view of such things. Charities seem to include benefits that slide out to give some volunteers a slice of the goodies.
Of course, it is an observation from outside of the gravy bowl and could be biased.

"In 2019 Total income ftom the trusts "trading companies" was £13m less the £11.4 above that leaves the income remaining of which £1.2m ( plus dividends ) is donated to the RAFCT, add back profit from one off Scampton Show of a mere £116k (not great) and you end up with a profit of just £1.4m with £935k the final figure donated to the charities activities.2

If that is the case and I don't doubt it, can RIAT really class themselves as a charitable organisation.
That’s a fairly good/standard donation ratio.
To save going over the same ground, please see pages 7,8,9 of this topic which discusses the 'actual' donation to Charity made after several successful preceding event years! The above extract gives a flavour of just how far up the creek DBH will be when looking for their paddle in 2022.
