Even if RIAT isn’t cancelled I think the knock on effect from this pandemic will mean that a lot of nations will decline this year but I hope people will understand why rather than just moan about the lack of participants. Just my opinion and based on no facts before someone quotes me

Czechs have declined and the Swedes are sending statics this year.....means no Gripen jets 😰
Gripen confirms during Easter every year
Good to know. I remember the Swedes brings their Gripen every year so was a bit surprised when they confirmed just 2 static aircraft today

I think you're talking absolute rubbish. This issue will be over by end of May.

Italy sadly are over-reacting to the virus. It's not as bad as the Flu or Common Cold. The Cheltenham Festival is taking place right now and will see just as many visitors as racegoers attend the meeting.
I think YOU are talking about rubbish! No it's not as bad, it's actually worse if you read the numbers!! Italy has a mortality rate of 6.6% and the world's mortality rate is 3.59%. Which is much worse than the flu. Over by the end of may hahaha  some people really don't surprise me.

We had 80 cases this time last week, now 460. Says a lot in itself.
Please see my post above this.
TomTwin, at least someone appears to have some perspective on this, well done

460 is a grain of sand on beach when it comes to the Worldwide human Population!! That number will already have been replaced b the number of births in Chin alone since the outbreak. In fact there has probably been more new-borns in China during this entire period than deaths from coronavirus, so the effect on the worldwide population figures is NIL.

So over 130,000 cases Worldwide, including China where the infection rate is plummeting... and less deaths Worldwide than are killed by flu in the UK alone every winter.

Get a grip on reality people and stop believing the MEDIA-HYPE :thumb:
Survival of the Fittest.

It isn't just about statistics and world population figures. It's about the effects on individuals, families and the wider effects on life in general. Yes there probably is a degree of media hype but not to the degree you're suggesting. YOU need to get a grip and understand the potential, unless you're so big-headed that you don't want to. :@

Why is it every thread on every forum related to RIAT descends in to total chaos?

Yes Chris, you're right of course so apologies for joining in the thread drift. Unfortunately when someone spouts forth a load of tripe, it's all too easy to bite especially when it's a serious issue.
There is a Covid-19 thread for those who wish to discuss it.

This is the RIAT thread, Nothing to see here, move along! I know the topic title says 'Discussion Thread', but it's more the aviation aspect hopefully?
Actually, come to think of it 'RIAT & nothing to see' may in fact transpire to be a profound statement.

Finally, it only took 2 and half pages for someone to say this is the RIAT thread and not the COVID 19 thread.

Looks like we are going to be out of pocket then in the event of a cancellation which is looking more probable now.

For me... this highlights the problem with advanced tickets... had it been pay on the gate you have the benefit of choosing which day you go as the weather can determine that choice.

More importantly... in the case of a cancellation... yes there would be no show but you would not be out of pocket.

For around 10 years prior to the 2020 show I always bought advance tickets - usually for both the Saturday and Sunday to cater for the dodgy UK weather, although I think I only attended both days on just one occasion. Didn't buy for the 2020 show, not because I knew that Corona virus was expected, but because my age means that my body has passed its "best before date"! For future shows I may buy just one advance ticket and hire a mobility scooter . . . .

Ah yes I remember the pay at the gate days. Can't remember the year but we opted for the Saturday weather looked great sadly the morning was awful, but cleared nice and sunny when the Migs collided!! I remember even the Apache pilot getting confused over the radio , I quote "Good afternoon ladies & gentleman ..... Ah good morning " 😂

From the FAQ page;

Tickets can be cancelled and monies reimbursed (less the £20 administration fee) up to 5:00pm on Monday 1 June 2020.

Order cancellation requests must be by phone on 01285 713456 (Mon - Fri 9.00am - 5.00pm).

All administration fees are non-refundable.

So it looks like if you initiate cancellation you can be refunded up to 01/06/2020,(less admin / booking fees) after that not so sure

But if the show has already been cancelled by 1st june what happens.. if its cancelled next week it's to late to then cancel your ticket later as it's no longer valid under the T&C… unless things change..

That was 1993. Remember sitting in the car watching the flying due to the rain (those were the days when you parked on the airfield not too far from the runway). If the cloud had cleared a bit sooner they may not have collided.

Ring them up and ask them!

Personally, I am of an age, have lung problems, and diabetes, and think I will pull the the plug this year and get what refund I can next week rather than wait.
