RIAT Parking

Post by Zonan » Thu Jul 18, 2019 8:24 am

Hello,

My first time to RIAT and I'm coming by car, staying in a hotel near Swindon.
Does anyone know how parking is managed? Can we expect long delays and how late should we arrive to be on the terrain in time?
Any tips at all about parking?
We will be coming on saturday only and hopefully take all the static as well as flying, so maybe some tips on when to take the static, in the morning or in the evening?

Kind regards,
Zonan

Carparks open at 6am, and the showground at 7:30. We normally aim to be in the carpark by 6:30-7am, and join the queue to get in ASAP after that. They use Airport style X-ray machines and hand scanners, so getting in can take a while - there is usually quite a big queue built up at security (probably about 30 minuites) by the time the showground gates open.

If you wait till after 8am, traffic will likely be chaos.

I arrived at the red car park at 7am last year on the Sunday, drove straight it, parked up, traffic was flowing great. Usual que to get in to the showground for checking. Would aim to be there as early as you can.

Thanks for the quick response guys.
Will try to be there around 6:30 - 07:00.
Do we need a parking ticket or can we get one there?

I usually follow the Red route.out through Highworth and Lechlade.
I find the Blue route hideous.
