According to the official list, not people saying they’ve heard on a Facebook site that Ukraine& Romania air forces have “confirmed” it looks pretty naff this year, and normally I’m all for RIAT, but seriously weekly update a Texan?

RIAT sort yourselves out, put some phantoms,f-22’s & f-35’s on that list. And just ask one of the B-52 crews currently there to return in July.
:grr: :grr: :grr: Are you really all for RIAT? ,this is not the first time you've moaned and moaned

if it turns out that the mig-21 and su-27 are not coming this year, it will look very poor for RIAT standards. I know its only march but i dont feel positive at all looking at what has been confirmed.
Regarding the texan, its a good addition but i feel there is too many acts in the line-up which are not that interesting for the public. Personally i will look forward to the seeing the chinook, apache, texan and tucano display but the other acts (blades, RJF, breitling team, Pc-9m, tutor) are a huge disappointment for me. I hope that April and May will bring us more fast jets and some rare demos ( draken, viggen , a-10 , mig-29 :P :D )

Do you know the reason they are not allowed to do a dynamic display?
The Germans do not really display at Airshows, have not done so since the Ramstein accident.346 seriously injured and 70 dead.
The Luftwaffe had numerous displays post-Ramstein, including fast jet solos from the Tornado, Phantom and MiG-29, but stopped performing displays in around 2003.
It can't be that simple. At the Fassberg 2017 open day, prior to the helicopter assault we saw both a Tornado and a EF2000 plus a A400M displaying.

I prefer the days before we all knew what was going to be displayed, we turned up, paid our money and bought a programme (wait for it, probably unlocked the door for people to moan about the price of the program now...).
We'd find our pitch and sit down and look at the details for the flying display. Every year it gets harder and harder for organisers to hold a flying display, look at what we have witnessed so far this year, Public days cancelled at Farnborough, Last Dunsfold this year and the last large scale flying content at Abingdon this year to mention only a few. Come on guys, I for one will be very much looking forward to the show and can't wait for July to come. :thumb:

Why most of Europe have dedicated display teams and the Germans do not.

Just had this in an e-mail from RIAT!
You may have missed our aircraft announcement last Friday! We're pleased to confirm the Air Tattoo debut of the Hellenic Air Force's 'Daedalus' Demo Team flying a single T-6A Texan II turboprop trainer! (This is not an April fool's joke!)

Excellent news although i am sure the moaners and whingers will be along soon enough saying not another boring prop display...These people seem to forget if it was not for prop planes we would have no pilots as they all train on them 1st before going to jets plus everyone needs a toilet and refreshments break so if you find prop displays boring there is your chance to take a break...Rant over with now sorry.

Has Germany ever had a display team? None that I can think of, But not sure why they don't have one or even single aircraft displays always seems to be static from the Germans but they are always welcome even if just for static aircraft.

There was also a WGAF F-104G display team at IAT Fairford 1985, does anyone remember what they were called?

Don't think they had a "name" but were from T Gp 11. The Vikings were also there.
