Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
Nice bit of heavy metal announced today. Must confess I thought the B52 was there last year. I guess it must have been 2017. As for the previous question regarding boarding the a/c usually the Voyager, KC-135, C130 and RAF A400 are open to visitors. Although I have noticed over the years that if you happen to be an extremely attractive , leggy blonde, you can get on almost any of the aircraft that are present. Lol.
I will look forward to my visit on the Saturday.
Cheers

Yes it was 2017 the B-52 was there it returned to base on route to Fairford last year.
I wonder with part of the theme this year being space that a U-2 Dragonlady might show for static? As it's the closest aircraft that goes near space we can see as it was an awesome sight in 2017.

That’s great. My dad is ex Royal Signals and spent a lot of time travelling around in C-130’s. He’s coming to RIAT and he’s hoping to go inside a Herc again.Red-Eye-Knight wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 7:19 pmCampbell89 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 6:45 pmIn terms of the static line up, are you allowed entry into the aircraft? For example into the cargo bays of C-17, C-130 etc?
Last year was amazing the amount of aircraft you could get aboard, it just depends on the crew but the answer to your question is yes you can get aboard some aircraft, I was on the A-400, Hercules, Voyager sure I was on the Osprey and the Blackhawk and several others

Having had a look at the riat website it appears the NATO flypast acts have been confirmed
Edit:
Currently under latest updates it states
"We're confirming more for the 70th anniversary NATO flypast today! The additional aircraft will include F-16AM fighters from the Belgian Air Component, whilst Germany offers a substantial commitment with Eurofighter EF2000s, A400M and Tornado strike aircraft.
The Royal Danish Air Force will also contribute with F-16 fighters, whilst the United States Air Force will be joining the flypast with F-15 aircraft from RAF Lakenheath. The Royal Air Force also plan to provide Typhoon fighters"

Email just in:
We can now reveal more about the special 70th anniversary flypast being planned to showcase NATO's air power capabilities at the 2019 Air Tattoo. This will be the only official NATO flypast taking place at a UK airshow this summer.
Joining the already confirmed NATO E-3A AWACS will be aircraft from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the USA and the UK.
The additional aircraft will include F-16AM fighters from the Belgian Air Component, whilst Germany offers a substantial commitment with Eurofighter EF2000s, A400M and Tornado strike aircraft.
The Royal Danish Air Force will also contribute with F-16 fighters, whilst the United States Air Force Europe will be joining the flypast with F-15 aircraft from RAF Lakenheath. The Royal Air Force also plan to provide Typhoon fighters.
This commemorative flypast is due to take place on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 July. Where the flypast aircraft will operate from is yet to be confirmed, although it is hoped that some will be based at RAF Fairford.
We are still working on special flypasts for Sunday 21 July and will bring you more news as soon as we can.

Based off the confirmed aircraft list it looks like the Germans, Belgians and the AWACS will take off from Fairford.

Considering that's just a start I would say it's pretty good.

The Flypast will be awesome and will be great to see Tornados flying again but I do wonder what will happen with those aircraft that were on static that are now part of the flypast and where they will be parked? I guess we will find out in 6 weeks.
I see the Frecce have been confirmed for Saturday and Sunday.
