lets hope it doesn't go tech this yearGary wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 11:02 amNice to have a B-52 again30 May 2019
Today we can confirm a diverse mix of static aircraft! The USAF will be sending a B-52H and KC-135, whilst the Royal Air Force have confirmed a Voyager tanker and Hawk T.1 from RAF Leeming. Also joining will be a QinetiQ owned PC-21, operated by the Empire Test Pilot School.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
Lets hope no issues with the B52 this year, only reason it didn't come last year was because it missed its arrival slot, and they could'nt fit it in anywhere....

hungarian gripen cancelled
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
I hope to see the painted f-15s on static this year. Regarding the special Sunday flypast, a p-47 and f-15s together would be nice.

Not sure if it has been covered already, but has anyone done the "Friday Pit Access" before? I notice it is back this year, but I personally have never done it. If anyone could offer any more info, it would be appreciated!

It is a reconfiguration of the crowd-side parking areas for some of the display aircraft at the eastern end.
Last time it was available it allowed the public to get up closer to some of the National display team aircraft and the RAF flying participants that were on the southside. Obviously easier to do on the Friday with the shorter flying displays which is why it isn't able to be repeated over the weekend.

That's great thanks for the info, I take it that it's only open after the flying display is finished? Or is it open before it starts with it being the shorter display day?

Opens before the flying.

I believe pit lane is open 0730 to 1000. It then closes in order to reconfigure barriers and FOD plod the area, prior to the flying display starting at 1100.Red-Eye-Knight wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 4:21 pmFlightline UK wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 3:33 pmIt is a reconfiguration of the crowd-side parking areas for some of the display aircraft at the eastern end.

Which day does the B52 normally arrive. I understand it normally leaves on the Tue/Wed after the show. Will it turn up Thu or before that,

In terms of the static line up, are you allowed entry into the aircraft? For example into the cargo bays of C-17, C-130 etc?

Last year was amazing the amount of aircraft you could get aboard, it just depends on the crew but the answer to your question is yes you can get aboard some aircraft, I was on the A-400, Hercules, Voyager sure I was on the Osprey and the Blackhawk and several others

What's the static line like?
Is it good to photograph and how much time would it take to photograph all of them?
I only am at RIAT for 1 day, so I do hope to see the static and flying that day...

Photography can vary, depending where they're parked but, usually fairly decent.
If you do it in depth, I'd say 2-3 hours.
