Its a shame that RIAT didn't announce anything better today, as its NATO's 70th anniversary. Let's hope that we get a surprise announcement during the next week. By May we should get a UK update with the already self confirmed aircraft (apache, chinook, tucano, tutor, bbmf). I've heard that they are waiting for the typhoon schedule so that they can announce everything at once. I think that the same is going on with the italian air force and BJT, with DBH just waiting for more confirmations from the Italian air force and other civilian participants to announce everything at once rather than singular updates from air arms.

Looking at the RIAT invited nations list Greece is still 'invited' so lets hope we will see those phantoms again. Lithuania is 'confirmed' so either they are sending over air arm chiefs or we are going to see them participating in this year's RIAT.For Yeovilton they are sending over a c-27 spartan and mi-8 for static with a L-39 flying. It's quite remarkable as the air force only has 3 types of each aircraft. I also hope that Sweden or Hungary will send over a gripen for the flying display as the Czech air force has declined for some reason. Lets hope poland will send over a Mi-24

We start this weeks update? Possible additional update later this week?
No, the update for this week starts with Germany then moves on to QinetiQ. You've misinterpreted the words I think.

OK for the benefit of those you are yet to understand the process.

1.Organisers invite countries to take part.

2. Countries accept/reject invitations.

3. Announcement made.

4. Grateful enthusiasts celebrate, ingrates moan.

That's basically it anyway so...

PATIENCE please

Don't know if anyone's posted this yet...
We're pleased to bring you the news that the Royal Air Force has confirmed its flying participation at this summer's Air Tattoo!
Joining the previously announced Red Arrows, who are flying their final displays at the Air Tattoo before heading off on their tour of the USA, are four more teams.
The RAF Typhoon Display Team will be demonstrating the multi-role BAE Systems Typhoon FGR.4 in a display that promises to showcase the aircraft's amazing performance, flown again by Flt Lt Jim Peterson.
RAF training aircraft will also perform solo displays, in the form of the Shorts Tucano and Grob Tutor display teams. Airshow favourites, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will also be flying at the show with the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane.

I agree, I remember last year there were at least half a dozen f16s, Gripens, Hornets as well as Rafael's not to mention f35s, typhoons and SU 27.

Does anyone remember if they confirmed quite late or not? I'm aware it's only Apr but with what they have confirmed so far it's a starter but not exactly the most interesting to the public with all these trainer aircraft and RIAT are aware of this. Freece Tricolori have self confirmed

It's the same every single year. You tend to find they announce a few "highlights" at the start of the year, to really sell some tickets initially. It then evens out for announcements. They then chuck in a few more stand out acts to sell tickets, you often find the best is saved till the end.

I really don't get why people are so surprised!
