Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2017 Discussion Thread
The QBF is different, the brass want it to look good for the Queen and the other royals. Also you get types thrown together that don't often get to do formation work. One of the reasons the Reds & BBMF never take part in the practice, formation work is their bread and butter
There might be a practice but it'll be in or on one of the towlines If it's different. If it's a KC-135 and fast jets like I expect (With a C-130 leading) it'll be no different to a trail or an average day in AARA8 other than a F-16 is thrown in the mix.

Great addition to the flying programme. Noticed it said they would do flypasts on FRI/SAT & SUN.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2017 Discussion Thread
Also mentioned that it won't just be a single flypast

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2017 Discussion Thread
That would be nice, even if they send something for Static.
The Wing Commander they speak of is the old OC of XV(r).....
Have RIAT saved the best until the week before?
Fingers crossed!

Edit, the two serials quoted for the Flankers are the same two that visited Malta last year, JFAYI.

They're also the same 2 airframes that did the last Keskemet, Hradec Kralove & pretty much everywhere they've ever showed-up.seven wrote:I won't hold my breath. But no harm in wishing/dreaming...

The PC-9M is a random entry in that line up - or is that just because I've not seen it display alone before? Would've thought we'd see the Rafale, Gripen, Hornet, Tornado or the Midnight Hawks (I know we will at some point from Wednesday onwards, just not advertised??).bizfreeq wrote:Friday flying display line up:

Ahhhh, it is nice to be picky with such a good line up for the weekend, it is still a great set.
One week to go...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2017 Discussion Thread
It looks like the first arrival has 'touched down', albeit at Brize, apparently the Canadian CH147 has just arrived at Brize aboard C17 177704!

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2017 Discussion Thread
Special schemed CC-177 as well!
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2017 Discussion Thread
The both mentioned Suchoi's are 2 of the 4 "european converted" / "NATO std." ones.
