Royal International Air Tattoo 2023 General Discussion Thread
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2023 General Discussion Thread
Since this year the Italians are publicly showing their Jedi. First in the flypast over Rome, at Pratica it was in static, and now at RIAT hopefully.
Furthermore, it goes without saying the Zambian and the GlobalEye are really nice additions too. And thats an understatement.

Another great update.
Has it ever been said what USAF aircraft the KC-135 will fly with?
Has it ever been said what USAF aircraft the KC-135 will fly with?
The 100th Air Refuelling Wing from RAF Mildenhall will be providing a pair of their KC-135Rs to appear as part of our SKYTANKER theme. One will appear on static display and the other will appear in our flying display on Saturday and Sunday where it will perform an aerial refuelling demonstration with another US Air Force asset.

Also - Email suggests heavier security.
Get ready to check-in at RIAT
We’re all getting very excited now, with just a couple of weeks to go before we open the gates to RIAT23 and welcome you to RAF Fairford. However, this year, there are some important safety changes we would like to tell you about.
As your safety and security is of the upmost importance to us, this year we intend to search every bag brought into the event as part of our security measures. By all means bring a bag, but please note that all bags and contents will be thoroughly searched, which may increase wait times at the entry points. So, in light of this, you may decide to pack lightly and ‘bring less stuff’. At each entry point, we have adopted an airport-style approach and opened additional lanes to steer you to the fastest route for your needs: hand luggage/hold luggage and no luggage.
Of course, there are some essentials you should still bring like a water bottle, sun cream and hat if it’s hot, but please keep all non-essential items to a minimum as this will only increase wait times at the entry points.
You are still very welcome to bring a picnic or use this as an opportunity to treat yourself to a tasty treat from one of our brand-new food outlets.
And it goes without saying that dangerous items like knives or drones should never be brought into RAF Fairford under any circumstances and they will be removed before entry is allowed.
And, as ever, we want you and your family to have a great time and the most enjoyable day out so please be patient with us as you check-in and bear in mind that our new security measures are there with your safety in mind.
We look forward to seeing you in July.

Thanks . I’m sure a FC member from ATC used to post arrivals a couple of days in advance. Usually Thursday is good for arrivals for me over the years so I’ll give it a go.red leader wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 1:32 pmI very much doubt it. Usually he vast majority you don't know what day they're arriving until the actual day.

There's a handful been posted already on the Friday, I would presume some of the heavy stuff (I.e. B-52) would be Wednesday. Am sure it will be posted it anything gets posted!
Understandable re; Security, wouldn't surprise me if the eco oil warriors are targeting it...Don't pack any orange sherbet

At a guess, an F-15E from LN? I'd say they will depart from Suffolk and do a few passes over FFD. But who knowsjasonT1981 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 1:48 pmAnother great update.

Where do you normally go catch them from? Hopefully you'll see that all (and me too!) And that the AMX is bright yellow!

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2023 General Discussion Thread
So.. Is this the last flying update or the last aircraft update?

The email I just received from RIAT says last Aircraft announcement so unless there’s a surprise one between now and the show it’s safe to say there won’t be anymore. Cracking lineup though so I for one am not complaining.

Looking forward to the Zambian C-27 and SAAB GlobalEye, shame about the cancellation.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2023 General Discussion Thread
Marham is NOTAMED open RIAT weekend between 12pm and 2pm Saturday and Sunday. So it looks like the F-35 will be flying in rather than operating from Fairford
