It would be better to cancel it now rather than keeping everybody guessing until the last minute.

Tend to agree with that, think of the months and the thousands of £'s worth to refund everyone as well.

A simple Google search using "Glastonbury 2021" comes up with this as the first hit https://www.nme.com/news/music/emily-ea ... et-2843518 in which Emily Eavis says it is not cancelled yet.

Keep the faith.

As for Glastonbury, it's a different style of event. Huge numbers all looking at one focal point so far less opportunity to spread out. Also, I'd bet there's so much pent up demand (from artists, attendees and support industries) that they could put on an event in a month so better to wait until May when things are a bit clearer.

I'd put RIAT at 55%; Glastonbury at 40%.

I for one am staying positive for some sort of RIAT next year.
To be honest, if I went and saw a few jets wizzing past it would be more than I saw last year.
I went to the Shuttleworth Drive in last year and I went home with a huge smile on my face, have already booked my ticket for 2021.
Everything crossed for next year.
Stay safe everyone and hope to see some of you next year.

Why are people so full of doom and gloom, surely with the roll out of the vaccine RIAT 2021 surely looks possibly. They was a statement put out last week saying plans were going ahead, things might have to slightly different but the news was positive. Living in Somerset not that many miles from Glastonbury I can assure people at the moment Glastonbury 2021 is still going ahead.

There's 35,000,000 people in front of me in the vaccine queue according to the NHS web site, so I might get my two shots during August and September 2021 it says. And I'm an average aged, healthy male etc. etc.

Right now I'd say that RIAT 2021 has no chance but I can understand why there's legal, political, financial - and even existential reasons why that's not a small decision to make or announce. I feel sorry for the 'planners and chiefs' who are having to put an 'all is going well' face on right now. Any random suggestion that things might not be happening will fill their postbag with demands for cancellation payments and confirmations of lost deposits etc. etc.

Think the best approach for any sort of event in 2021 is to have no expectations for it, and if it goes ahead - win ;)

There is no way it will happen. He vaccine cannot be rolled out quickly enough.
Most attendees are low down the priority list and are not going to be .
done by july.
What about the overseas visitors? RIAT has a large number of these from all four corners the globe!

Would be nice to see the RIAT 2021 go ahead, but more like 2022 realistically at the earliest!

All this talk and yet I'm sure most of you think nothing of going to Tesco for the weekly shop. At RIAT it's far easier to distance, it's outdoors and it will be summer. I note that Sanicole are selling F16 O2 mask style face masks. Why not issue something like that as part of the ticket price? There's lots of possibilities. As for those doom mongers. I'm happy for you to stay away.

Well I'm used to Sainsburys delivering our shopping so maybe you can get RIAT delivered to Lakenheath but the centerline offset to approx 2 miles on the 24 approach

I don't want to turn this into another covid thread but would say that the whole 'essential thing' is a bit of a red herring. RIAT is a single event with lower transmission probability than going to the local supermarket, something millions of people do every day in this country at the height of the second wave in winter. A RIAT style summer outdoor event is low risk, especially if steps are taken by the organisers. The one restriction that may be implemented is a cap on overall numbers to aid distancing. How you address bottlenecks such as entry would also have to be carefully considered. That isn't to say the government won't put restrictions on these style events but that would be another decision I don't agree with.

As for living near the Heath; don't you get an airshow every week? Now that's just being greedy ;)

I admire your optimism, but I am convinced that this is simply not going to happen. 2022 at the earliest.
